Lydbury North
Lydbury North is a village and a geographically big civil parish in south Shropshire, England.The population of the Civil Parish at the 2011 census was 695. The church is locally called Lydbury as well as there is no negotiation called Lydbury South. It is located at grid reference SO352859. It is located in the south west corner of the county, close to the small towns of Clun as well as Bishop's Castle. The B4385 road goes through the town, as does the Jack Mytton Way. To the west is the town and also parish of Colebatch. There is a part-time post office, neighborhood store, college as well as church right here. Also there is a hostelry called the Powis Arms. According to the Institute for Name Studies the name is Old English in derivation as well as suggests 'Stronghold on the * Hlyde (= noisy stream)', perhaps a very early name for the River Kemp. The town lies between 155m and 165m over water level. Whilst the land to the south is level, to the north it climbs considerably. Priors Holt, Priors Holt Hill and Churchmoor are at the northeastern extremities of the church, the church of which in Lydbury North, St Michael and All Angels, has a tiny Catholic church.
