The Kennet and Avon Canal travels through the community from the west alongside the River Dun, a significant tributary of the River Kennet. The confluence with the Kennet is to the north of the centre whence canal and river both continue eastern. Services consist of schools, stores, cafés, dining establishments, and facilities for the major national sports. The train station is a minor quit on the London to Exeter (by means of Taunton) Line. The church was separated into 4 tithings: Hungerford or Community, Sanden Fee, Eddington with Hidden and also Newtown and Charnham Street. North and South Standen and also Charnham Street were officially detached parts of Wiltshire up until moved to Berkshire in 1895. Leverton and Calcot were transferred to Hungerford church from Chilton Foliat in Wiltshire in 1895.
