Hebburn
Hebburn is a town lying on the south bank of the River Tyne in North East England, located between the towns of Jarrow and Bill Quay. In accordance with the 2011 Census, it has a population of 18808. The town was formerly a part of County Durham, with the name believed to come from Old English, signifying 'high burial mount'. Hebburn has been dated back to the 8th century, where the first record pertains to a settlement of angler's huts burned by the Vikings. The town has a long industrial history. Coal was extracted in Hebburn from at least the early 17th century. The Hebburn Colliery launched in 1792, which grew to subsequently operate 3 pits.
