Fascias and soffits are an essential component of the majority of guttering systems. Not only do they provide support for the guttering itself, they improve the appearance of your property by producing a clean and neat finish to the roofline. Fascias or fascia boards are horizontal planks that sit on the edge of the rafters of your roof, closing the end of the roof and offering the support that the guttering is mounted to. Soffits run beneath the fascia boards, closing the gap and protecting the underside of the rafter ends. Soffits are usually ventilated to help the roof timbers to breathe and to stop any moisture buildup. Box ends are used where the horizontal fascia meets the diagonal barge board that runs up the edge of the roof profile, offering a neat finish to an otherwise ugly join.
Fascias and soffits are typically made from either wood or UPVC. Wood fascias and soffits are widespread on older properties and continue to be popular. However, wooden fascias and soffits can rot with time and expose the rest of the guttering to problems or leaks. More recently, UPVC fascias and soffits have been increasingly popular as they offer a long lasting option that won't rot. UPVC fascias and soffits are available in a variety of colours to match any home, although white is extremely popular as it has a traditional aesthetic. Fascias are also available in ogee moulded designs, where feature grooves are incorporated. These can have a striking effect.
How much replacing your soffits and fascias costs depends on several things, including the size of your property, the materials you use and where you live. However, the cost of a soffits and fascias project tends to range between £1,300 and £2,000 for most people.

Fleetwood serves as a town inside the Wyre region of Lancashire, England, laying at the northwest location of the Fylde. It possessed a population of 26,840 people at the 2001 Census. It forms an element of the Greater Blackpool conurbation. The town was the first planned community of the time. For the majority of of the twentieth century, Fleetwood was a well known deep-sea fishing port, although, since the 1970s, the fishing sector has reduced precipitously and the town has undergone economic difficulties. Fleetwood is in addition a beachfront holiday resort, in the role of a peaceful contrast to nearby Blackpool.

You should replace your soffits and fascias if you are having problems. Soffits and fascias can degrade and rot away over time, and this can cause leaks, faulty guttering, or even allow pests entry to the roof space. If any of these problems occur, you should speak to an experienced roofline company to discuss replacing your soffits and fascias.
In general uPVC is used for soffits and fascias as it is very strong and durable. It also requires very little maintenance. However, wood can be used and is still popular on listed properties as it retains the original material. Older and listed buildings may require more traditional materials to be used.
Soffits and fascias are available in lots of different colours. These include black, grey, brown, white and cream. It’s also possible to get them in brighter colours like reds, blues and greens.
What colour soffits and fascias you get is entirely up to you, unless you live in a listed building, in which case some rules may apply. Most people choose a colour that matches their roof, walls or window frames to give their property an attractive, colour-coordinated look.
Having ventilation in the roof void is a requirement for building regulations approval. Fitting ventilated soffits is the typical way that this roof ventilation is achieved. If you do not have roof ventilation, you may find that your roof void has problems with condensation or overheating.
We can help you get more soffits and fascias work with our qualified job leads and boost your business.
