Fascias and soffits are an essential element of the majority of guttering systems. Not only do they offer support for the guttering itself, they improve the style of your home by creating a clean and tidy finish to the roofline. Fascias or fascia boards are horizontal planks that sit on the edge of the rafters of your roofing, closing the end of the roof and creating the support that the guttering is fixed to. Soffits run beneath the fascia boards, closing the gap and protecting the underside of the rafter ends. Soffits are generally ventilated to allow the roof timbers to breathe and to stop any moisture accumulation. Box ends are used where the horizontal fascia meets the diagonal barge board that runs up the edge of the roof profile, offering a neat finish to an otherwise ugly join.
Fascias and soffits are normally created from either timber or UPVC. Timber fascias and soffits are typical on older properties and remain popular. However, timber fascias and soffits can rot with time and expose the rest of the guttering to issues or leaks. More recently, UPVC fascias and soffits have been increasingly popular as they offer a long lasting option that won't rot. UPVC fascias and soffits can be purchased in a variety of colours to match any house, although white is very popular as it has a traditional aesthetic. Fascias are also available in ogee moulded designs, where feature grooves are incorporated. These can have a striking effect.
How much replacing your soffits and fascias costs depends on several things, including the size of your property, the materials you use and where you live. However, the cost of a soffits and fascias project tends to range between £1,300 and £2,000 for most people.

Source: Numbers calculated based on the search volumes in major search enginesMillom is a town and civil parish on the north shore of the estuary of the River Duddon around 6 miles (9.7 kilometres) north of Barrow-in-Furness (nevertheless by road using the estuary the range is 23 miles (37.0 kilometres)) and 26 miles (41.8 km) south of Whitehaven in southwest Cumbria, England. Millom was built as a new town, starting in 1866 and also subsumed the town of Holborn Hill. Built around ironworks, the community grew to a dimension of over 10,000 individuals by the 1960s, but has had a hard time given that the works were closed in 1968. Culturally, Millom is remarkable as the native home of poet Norman Nicholson, and as a significant centre of amateur rugby league. The name is Cumbrian language for "At the mills". The community is accessible both by rail and also by an A class roadway. Historically in Cumberland, the parish had a population of 7,829 in 2011 and is separated into 4 wards, Holborn Hill, Newtown North, Newtown South as well as Haverigg. Millom's economic climate is now generally based around retail, solutions and tourism. It is a fairly reduced wage location, with a great deal of individuals employed in competent trades such as structure, paint and designing. Several also operate in the solution sector in resorts, clubs and shops within the neighboring Lake District national park. Greater wage centres are Barrow-in-Furness to the south as well as Sellafield to the north-west with travelling each way when traveling or through the train. There is also some commuting as far as Kendal.

The soffit and fascia is the outdoor underside region of your roof which would need to be repaired or replaced when it’s in a critical condition. Your soffit and fascia may actually require more frequent replacement or repair depending on the material that the soffit or fascia uses. If you notice your soffit and fascia needs to be replaced, then you’d probably also like to know how much it going to cost. Well, you’ve come to the right place! The price to replace a soffit and fascia can vary significantly which can be a bit annoying when you’re trying to calculate the overall cost you’ll be expected to pay.
The price of a soffit and fascia is based on the following variables:
✓ The materials you wish to use for the new fascia, soffit and guttering
✓ The type of the property. For instance, semi detached houses may come at a lower price due to the less roof space they require when compared to their counterparts, which can reduce the cost of replacement.
✓ If you’re going to also replace the gutter at the same time will also increase the cost of replacement.
✓ The current overall condition of the roof. For example, if you also have broken or slipping roof tiles, the soffits and fascias can be more difficult to replace, hence, increasing the cost of the project.
Generally, the average cost of fitting soffits and fascias as replacement options for your homes will range between £1200 - £3,000. What’s more? Soffits and fascias normally have a per metre cost. The average price of soffits and fascias per metre can range between £100 to £130 when you opt for a white uPVC option.
Soffits and fascias sit along the sides of your property, over the join between your walls and your roof. The fascia attaches to the end of your roof rafters, hiding and protecting them. The soffit fixes on the bottom of the fascia, bridging the gap between your fascia and wall. Your guttering attaches to the fascia, which also joins to the bargeboard on your gable end, if you have one.
You should replace your soffits and fascias if you are having problems. Soffits and fascias can degrade and rot away over time, and this can cause leaks, faulty guttering, or even allow pests entry to the roof space. If any of these problems occur, you should speak to an experienced roofline company to discuss replacing your soffits and fascias.
Soffits and fascias are available in lots of different colours. These include black, grey, brown, white and cream. It’s also possible to get them in brighter colours like reds, blues and greens.
What colour soffits and fascias you get is entirely up to you, unless you live in a listed building, in which case some rules may apply. Most people choose a colour that matches their roof, walls or window frames to give their property an attractive, colour-coordinated look.
We can help you get more soffits and fascias work with our qualified job leads and boost your business.
