Padstow
Padstow is a town, civil parish and fishing port on the north shore of Cornwall, England, UK. The community is situated on the west financial institution of the River Camel estuary roughly 5 miles (8.0 kilometres) northwest of Wadebridge, 10 miles (16 km) northwest of Bodmin as well as 10 miles (16 kilometres) northeast of Newquay. The population of Padstow civil parish was 3,162 in the 2001 census, decreasing to 2,993 at the 2011 census. On top of that an electoral ward with the very same name exists yet expands regarding Trevose Head. The population for this ward is 4,434. Generally an angling port, Padstow is currently a popular tourist location. Although several of its former angling fleet continues to be, it is mostly a yacht haven on a remarkable shoreline with couple of easily accessible harbours. The impact of restaurateur Rick Stein can be seen in the port, and visitors travel from long distances to eat at his dining establishment and cafés. This has led to the community being called "Padstein", by food writers in the British media. However, the boom in the popularity of the port has caused home price rising cost of living both in the port as well as bordering areas, as people get houses to reside in, or as 2nd or vacation homes. This has meant substantial numbers of citizens can not afford to buy home in the area, with costs typically more than 10 times the average wage of around £ 15,000. This has led to a population decline. Strategies to construct a skatepark in Padstow have been recommended and also funds are being increased to develop this at the Recreation Ground (Wheal Jubilee Parc).
