Burnham-on-Sea is a town in Somerset, located around the mouth of the River Parrett and Bridgewater Bay. Before the eighteenth century, Burnham was a little fishing village. Its expansion started when it became a common seaside resort throughout the Victorian time, at a time when seaside holidays were incredibly trendy. It's part of the parish of Burnham-on-Sea and Heybridge, and its town council is shared with Highbridge, a neighbouring market town. As recorded in the 2011 Census, the population of the town was around 20,000. Resulting from the town's positioning on the border of the Somerset Levels and moors where they meet the Bristol Channel, Burnham's history is dominated by land reclamation and sea defences since the Roman era. As a consequence of the town's position near the mouth of the River Parrett, there is a higher threat to boats in the region. Lighthouses are, therefore, significant landmarks near the town, with the original lighthouse, the Round Tower, constructed to take over from the light on the top of the fourteenth century town of St. Andrews Church used to reduce the number of shipwrecks. The High Lighthouse is 34 metres tall, and one lighthouse is known as 'Lighthouse on Legs'. The building of a stone pier was completed in 1858 by the Somerset Central Railway. Shortly after its establishment in 1860, a steam service to Wales started, though it was not a commercial success. A second steamer service, concrete pier, completed after three years of work in 1914, is referred to as the shortest pier in Britain. Regardless of its compact size, the pier was shortlisted as being among the leading five piers in Britain. For all your house improvement projects, ensure that you use trusted professionals in Burnham-on-Sea to ensure that you get the best quality service at a great price.

How Much Is It To Replace A Garage Roof?
The size of your garage will be the main determinant of the cost of a new garage roof. However, the present condition of your roof structure as well as the type of roof covering preferred are also huge factors. In the UK, the cost of a garage roof replacement will be within the range of £700 to £3600.
The first step a pro will take is to remove the existing roofing while also making sure that the timber structure is in a good condition. In the event whereby the timber is rotten, it will need to be replaced before the installation of a new roof. If the garage roof sheets needs a replacement, you’ll have to spend about £30 to £50 per each garage roof sheets. Individual plywood sheet has around 2.4m x 1.2m in measurement and whose price should also be included in the final cost.
The above information applies only to standard roofing for garage roofs with flat roofs being made of bitumen felt and asphalt. In recent times, this is no longer the case with several more options available. Today, EPDM and GRP fibreglass have rapidly become very popular amongst several homeowners in the country. It’s also important to note that modern roofing has greatly advanced over the years even though both EPDM garage roofs and GRP fibreglass garage roofs are way better and of more quality when compared to felt and asphalt roofs. And thanks to modern technology, modern garage roofing possesses a longer life expectancy and as result, are a lot costlier than the conventional ones.
For a medium size single garage (2.7m x 5.5m), the cost for a felt roof per square metre is between £40 to £70, while that of a fiberglass roof and an EPDM rubber roof is between £90 to £110 and £70 to £100 respectively.
Ponding is where you see pools of water appearing on your flat roof. Unless your roof is leaking or showing other signs of damage, you don’t need to replace it. When you do have your flat roof replaced, tell the contractor so they can find out the cause of the ponding.
It depends on the material you use, but if your flat roof is installed correctly it should last for at least 10 years, and at least 20 if a material other than felt is used. Always question a roofing company when they quote to find out what materials they use and what guarantee's they offer.
How To Replace A Flat Roof
Is it high time you replaced your flat roof with a new one? If it’s time, then you probably shouldn’t waste another minute! Flat roofs come with multiple upsides and happens to be a lot more affordable than many other options (especially for starters). Not only do they add to your home’s curb appeal and requires a relatively low labour costs as there are minimal risks involved, but they’re also more accessible for maintenance purposes and aren’t as exposed to damage as a pitched roof. However, we’re not here to discuss the various benefits of installing a flat roof, but rather tell you how to install one. If you lack proper training and experience, we’d recommend you hire a trustworthy professional that can guarantee the best results.
