Have you got a flat roof top that would need restoring in Buckie or perhaps you are looking at converting your existing roof into a flat design. No matter your needs, make sure to use our fast and simple quote service to get the very best prices regarding the work you want.

Pitched roofs have been commonly seen around the country, but now it seems the flat roof is growing in popularity. There are a few significant reasons for this as well, including the simple fact they're less expensive to have built and are better for energy efficiency, costing you less on energy bills.

What's more, the flat roof is good for being resistant to the flippant weather conditions the UK is notorious for. The style of roofing can be combined with nearly any kind of material too, according to your requirements and existing property.

If a flat roof sounds like something you could benefit from, why not compare and contrast quotes using our fast and simple online service. We'll match your particulars with trustworthy roof businesses in Buckie who'll visit your home and offer a free quote for the work.

The work itself usually takes several weeks to complete, all depending on the size of your home. Obviously, if it's a repair job this can take considerably less time.

Buckie

Buckie is a burgh town (specified thus in 1888) on the Moray Firth coast of Scotland. Historically in Banffshire, Buckie was the largest town in the area by some thousands of residents prior to 1975, when the administrative region was eliminated. The town is the third biggest in the Moray council location after Elgin and Forres as well as within the definitions of stats published by the General Register Office for Scotland was placed at number 75 in the list of population quotes for settlements in Scotland mid-year 2006. Buckie lies essentially equidistant to Banff to the east and Elgin to the west with both neighborhoods being roughly 17 miles (27 kilometres) remote whilst Keith exists 12 mi (19 kilometres) to the south by road. Geographically, the community is, broadly speaking, laid out in a straight style, following the coastline. There is a lower coast area and a top area. Fundamentally Buckie itself is the central part of the neighborhood lying in between the Victoria Bridge under which streams the Buckie Burn at the western end of West Church Street, the eastern end of Cluny Harbour and above the shore location. To the west of Victoria Bridge and the Buckie Burn is Buckpool, which was previously called Nether Buckie, and also on the coastline, west of Cluny Harbour, between Baron Street and the Buckie Burn mouth, there is the Yardie. Immediately above the Yardie on the Buckie side of the burn is the Seatown. To the west of the Yardie is Harbourhead. To the eastern of Cluny Harbour lie Ianstown, Gordonsburgh as well as Portessie also recognized locally as The Sloch (historically The Rotten Slough), which reaches in the direction of Strathlene. These neighborhoods were, to all intents and also functions, different angling settlements that slowly merged throughout time. A brand-new town was set out over the shoreline in the 19th century and this is the rump of Buckie.

    FAQs

how to replace flat roof fascia?

How To Replace Flat Roof Fascia

Whatever makes you decide to install your flat roof fascia by yourself and not a professional company, then you must have a clear idea of what to do and do it appropriately. If you lack proper training and experience, we’d recommend you employ a reliable professional to help with the task for the best results and save you some time and money. This step-by-step guide will give a clear insight on how to go about the replacement of your flat roof fascia.

The tools to be incorporated includes the fascia boards, table saw, plane, crimper, clamps, power nailer, compound saw and chalkline.

    • Prepare and get all the necessary tools to complete the task before commencing as this would save you time from stopping and going back and forth looking for the next tool needed,

    • Install the sheathing and board.

    • Fix white fascias with at least 600mm centres ( a foiled fascia needs just 40mm centre) using a marine grade stainless steel plastic headed nails.

    • Make a space of up to 10mm between the joints for possible building expansion, using super glue to secure the joints to just a side of the fascia.

    • Place this directly on the fascia board’s top (if you’ll be installing ventilation) to create an air pathway.

    • Take note that the type of roof to be installed will determine how you’ll have to install the fascia board. For instance, a hip roof permits you to attach the fascia board onto the roof in a quick fashion, whereas a gabled roof may need you to make markings on the board to achieve the right fit.

    • Consider the depth of the fascia board as it also play a huge role in the installation of the fascia board. For instance, there’ll be additional weights on tiled roofs that will push up against the board. Therefore, if you do not get the appropriate amount of depth, it could eventually collapse.

What guarantee or warranty can I get?

Most material warranties come from the waterproofing layer manufacturers, and can last between 5 and 20 years. If your roofing contractor is on the manufacturer’s installer list, it might cover their work. It’s important that you always read through all the information given to you about your warranty so you know exactly what is included.

how much to replace a flat roof?

How Much To Replace A Flat Roof

There’s no straight answer to this question. However, the average cost lies within the range of £1000 to £5000. This range may look too wide but the price is greatly influenced by a number of factors which is capable of making the price increase or decrease. Some of the factors affecting the cost of flat roof coverings and replacement include: the type of flat roofing system and materials you want, the area size of the flat roof in M2, the project’s location, the roofing company to be used, the ease at which to reach the roof, cost of removing the old flat roof as well as cost of removing the other waste.

Although there are many factors to be put into consideration but the most crucial factor is the size of the house or the area size of the flat roof in M2. for instance, a one bedroom apartment’s flat roof will have a price between £1500 to £3000. This is, however, with the assumption that the flat roof is going to be used as the main roof of the house. But if you’re only using it for a section of the house like your garage, the price could range between £700 to £1000

There four commonly used types of flat roof materials which includes fibreglass, felt, rubber and lead. If you need a felt roof, for example, the price is between £40 to £70 per m2. And in the same tone, a metal roof will generally cost more than a a flat roof made from rubber.

Another important factor we’ll discuss is the labour or the roofing company to be used. Different roofing companies will charge different prices. As a result, you should carefully compare the prices of the companies in order to get a great deal.

how to replace flat roof felt?

How To Replace Flat Roof Felt

Also referred to as tar paper, roofing felt is installed underneath the roof’s shingles to help deny water access to your home. Installing the roofing felt in overlapping layers builds a water barrier in situations whereby the weather damages or blows away the shingles. Although the application of a roofing felt on a flat roof is relatively easier and safer than working on a peaked roof, it’s advisable to take enough care and precautions. If you lack proper training and experience for this task, we’d recommend you employ a reliable professional to guarantee the best results and save you from further headaches especially in cases whereby unfortunate errors are made. This step by step guide will give you a good insight into the flat roof felt replacement process.

    • Take a measurement of the width and length of the roof.

    • Calculate the square footage by multiplying the numbers.

    • Multiply the square footage gotten by three (it’s advisable to install three layers of roofing felt to create a really strong weather barrier).

    • Use a claw hammer to remove the existing roofing felt.

    • Use utility knife to cut the new felt to fit the length of the roof.

    • Place the first piece along the roof’s edge and use a hammer tacker to tack the felt in place with staples or galvanized nails and hammer.

    • Put the staples or nails at every 6 inches along the side touching the roof’s edge as well as down the short sides.

    • Repeat the same process for the second piece, laying it out beside the first row of felt.

    • Cut a piece of felt to the appropriate length using a utility knife to begin the second layer of roofing felt, and cutting it in half, lengthwise.

    • Apply construction adhesive along the first row using a trowel.

    • Press the first piece for the second layer onto the adhesive. Repeat this process until the roof is covered with a second layer

    • Apply construction adhesive over the second layer to install the third layer. Begin with a full piece of felt without cutting it in half.

    • Overlap each piece by 2 inches until you’ve completely installed the third layer.
