Dulverton
Dulverton is a village and civil parish in the heart of West Somerset, England, near the boundary with Devon. The town has a population of 1,408. The church consists of the hamlets of Battleton and Ashwick which is located approximately 3.5 miles (5.6 kilometres) north west of Dulverton. To the west of the district lies Ashwick House, built in the Edwardian design in 1901. Additionally close-by is the estate of Northmoor, formerly a seat of Sir Frederick Wills,1 st Baronet of Northmoor, among the four Wills Baronetcys, and also the founders of the Imperial Tobacco Company. In 1929 Sir Frederick's boy & successor, Sir Gilbert Wills, 2nd Baronet, was raised to the peerage as Baron Dulverton, whose major seat went to Batsford Park, near Batsford, Gloucestershire. Dulverton is a preferred visitor location for exploring Exmoor, and is home to the Exmoor National Park Authority head office. The community rests on the route of the Exe Valley Way and also Land's End Trail.
