Planning Permission in Bellshill

Planning permission is a system whereby local authorities can authorise building works by giving permission for the proposed work. Garage conversions will mostly not require planning permission, so long as the work is internal and you do not plan to enlarge the structure of the property. Garage conversions are often protected by permitted development rights, which protect a variety of home improvement work. However, these rights have been taken away in some locations by councils, particularly in new builds, so it is always worth verifying with your local authority. If you are preparing to undertake a garage conversion on a listed building or live in a conservation area, you will need planning permission. Furthermore, if any of the walls of your garage are shared walls with a neighbour, you must obtain a Party Wall Agreement. You will still need to comply with all building regulations related to your garage conversion whether or not you need planning permission. These building regulations cover parts of the conversion like insulation, escape routes, fire proofing and ventilation, so it is generally a good idea to utilise an architect to draw up technical drawings and approve designs in order to ensure compliance with these regulations. You'll likely still need to submit plans detailing the change of use of the garage to your local authority. If planning permission is taken into account from the start of the project, it is far less likely that there will be any trouble further down the line. The vast majority of planning permission applications in England are approved.

Bellshill

Bellshill is a town in North Lanarkshire, Scotland. It is situated ten miles to the south east of Glasgow city centre and 37 miles west of Edinburgh, in addition to being in close proximity to other towns like Motherwell, Hamilton and Coatbridge. Since 1996, it's been a part of the Greater Glasgow metropolitan area. With a population of about 20,000, a study by the Halifax Building Society suggested that in the first quarter of 2005, the town was the UK's property hotspot, witnessing a rise in property prices by 46 per cent. This resulted in the standard property price as being £105,698. It's suggested that the town dates back to the 17th century, which initially contained a row of quarry workers' houses owned by Mr. Bell, the owner of a stone quarry towards the south of the town. The development of Bellshill, nonetheless, mostly occurred after the quarry shutting at the beginning of the nineteenth century. Developments have continued all through the 20th century. Most recently, the Streetscape Project, a programme which aims to attain the town's regeneration and to modernise the the town centre, took place between 2007 and 2010. This established a one way system around the main street making the area much more friendly for pedestrians. Since the middle of the 1980s, the town has been recognised particularly for producing respected and influential popular music, with bands including the Soup Dragons, BMX Bandits and Teenage Fanclub coming from the town. A Channel 4 television series, 'Sounds of the Suburbs', celebrated the music of the area, often referred to as the 'Bellshill Sound' or the 'Bellshill Beat'.
