Planning Permission in Alexandria

Planning permission is a system where local authorities can agree to building works by giving permission for the proposed work. Garage conversions will usually not require planning permission, so long as the work is internal and you do not plan to expand the structure of the property. Garage conversions are usually protected by permitted development rights, which cover a variety of home improvement work. However, these rights have been taken away in certain locations by councils, particularly in new builds, therefore it is always worth verifying with your local authority. If you are preparing to undertake a garage conversion on a listed building or live in a conservation area, you will need planning permission. Furthermore, if the walls of your garage are shared walls with a neighbouring property, you must obtain a Party Wall Agreement. You will still need to comply with all building regulations related to your garage conversion whether or not you need planning permission. These building regulations cover elements of the conversion such as insulation, escape routes, fire proofing and ventilation, so it is often a good idea to utilise an architect to draw up technical drawings and also to approve designs in order to ensure compliance with these regulations. You will likely still need to submit plans describing the change of use of the garage to your local authority. If planning permission is considered from the start of the project, it is much less likely that there will be any trouble further down the road. The majority of planning permission applications in England are approved.

Alexandria

Alexandria is a town in West Dunbartonshire, Scotland. The town is situated on the River Leven, 4 miles (six km) north-west of Dumbarton. In 2001, the population of the town was 13,444. It's the largest town inside the Vale of Leven. Alexandria developed on account of the textile industry. In 1715, the very first bleachfields in the area were started at Dalquhurn, attracting seasonal labour from Argyll. As trade between Scotland and the US grew, cotton was increasingly imported and processed in and around Glasgow. Quickly, textile work inside the Vale grew from just bleaching fabric to dying and printing it too. The town's conventional industries, above all cotton manufacturing, bleaching and printing, have been phased out. The town was redeveloped during the 1970s with a brand new town centre layout and traffic system. Close by landmarks include Christie Park plus the fountain in the town centre. Alexandria sits on the former A82 main road between Glasgow and Loch Lomond. You will find regular bus services on the route and the town has a railway station on the rail line between Balloch and Glasgow Queen Street. The town is reputed to be the only UK town with a railway station along with a pub in the center of a roundabout. The writer A. J. Cronin's uncle owned a pub in Bridge Street. Alexandria Library is situated on Gilmour Street. The town is home to the Vale of Leven football club, who play at Millburn Park. The club were a dominant force in early Scottish football history, winning the Scottish Cup in 1877, 1878 and 1879, and were founding members of the Scottish Football League.
