Bembridge
Bembridge is a village and civil parish located on the easternmost point of the Isle of Wight. It had a population of 3,848 according to the 2001 census of the United Kingdom, causing the doubtful insurance claim by some homeowners that Bembridge is the biggest village in England. Bembridge is home to most of the Island's most affluent residents. The population had reduced to 3,688 at the 2011 Census. Bembridge sits at the extreme eastern factor of the Isle of Wight. Before land recovery the location of Bembridge as well as Yaverland was practically an island, separated from the rest of the Isle of Wight by Brading Haven. On the Joan Blaeu map of 1665, Bembridge is shown as Binbridge I?le, nearly divided from the remainder of Wight by River Yar. Before the Victorian age Bembridge was a collection of wood huts and also farmhouses, which just settled into a real village with the building of the church in 1827 (later on restored in 1846).
