Blaydon-on-tyne

The town of Blaydon-on-Tyne is situated in the North East of England inside the Metropolitan Borough of Gateshead. It was historically in County Durham. As recorded in the 2011 Census, the town has a permanent resident population of roughly 15,155, which is a large increase from the 14,500 inhabitants recorded in the 2001 Census. Blaydon underwent an intensive programme of housing regeneration between 2009 and 2014. This incorporated the construction of new developments at High View around the Winlaton-Blaydon border, by the riverside on the location of the former Stella South power station, and at Axwell Gardens, close to the already present Axwell Park estate. Initially, the powerhouse of the Industrial Revolution in Gateshead, Blaydon's traditional business is coal mining. On account of the decline of mining during the 1950s and 1960s, Blaydon now contains a more diverse set of industries. Many of the town's inhabitants are involved in engineering and manufacturing, as well as having a modest amount of commuting professionals. Numerous firms work from the premises in Blaydon Haughs, referred to as 'The Spike', which is within the banks of the River Tyne. There are numerous shopping opportunities for visitors in Blaydon's shopping centre, generally known as the precinct. A brutalist construction from the 1970s, it is made up of almost all of the town's significant shops, which are mainly branches of commercial chain retailers, as well as food and grocery outlets. The town is also the location of a quantity of landmarks. Stella Hall, dating back to 1143 when there was a nunnery on the site, is a listed building, and Anxwell Hall, built in 1761, is to undertake conversion into household flats. For all your property improvement jobs, ensure that you select vetted specialists in Blaydon-on-Tyne to ensure you get a top quality service.

FAQs

How do I get fuel for my LPG boiler?

If you choose to install an LPG boiler, you’ll need to find an LPG supplier. They’ll deliver fuel to you every time your storage tank runs low. You can even rent a storage tank from them if you don’t want to buy one. Make sure you know who your local suppliers are and where they are based.

How do I know when I need more fuel delivering for my LPG boiler?

Your LPG storage tank should have a gauge that shows you how much fuel it has in it. Most LPG suppliers suggest that you arrange a fuel delivery when the level in your tank gets down to about 20%. Make regular checks, particularly in the winter when you will use more, so you know when levels are low.

Where can I put an LPG storage tank?

Your LPG storage tank will need to go outside your property, possibly underground if you have limited space. There are planning rules that restrict where you can put your tank, especially if your property is listed or on designated land. Take a look at our planning permission article to find out more.

What’s LPG?

LPG stands for liquid petroleum gas. It’s a by-product of refined crude oil. When it’s put under pressure, LPG turns into a liquid. It’s usually stored in this form. LPG is used as fuel for things like BBQs and camping stoves, as well as central heating.
