Barnehurst is a town and district in South East London in the London Borough of Bexley. It's north east of Bexleyheath, and is 13 miles east south-east of Charing Cross. It's separated from North Bexleyheath by the A220 Erith Road.
The town was established following the sale of land in 1881 to create the Bexleyheath loop line in between Lewisham and Dartford. Its name originates from the name of the railway station, which was named after Colonel Barne, who owned a local property and was vice-chairman of the railway company. Now, the railway station runs trains in between London Charing Cross, London Victoria or London Cannon Street, by way of Lewisham and Eltham towards the west and Dartford railway station to the east. There are 12 trains every hour through the week; on Sundays, there are four trains every hour. The railway station was openedto encourage the building of homes. The Barnehurst Estate was constructed in 1926 which housed many individuals.
In addition to the railway station, Barnehurst is served by five buses, one of which goes to the well-liked Bluewater Shopping Centre. There are not many purchasing or leisure opportunities within the town, so individuals usually visit surrounding areas working with public transport links or the primary roads.
Barnehurst is house towards the non-league football club Phoenix Sports FC, which plays at Phoenimx Sports Ground.
