Pentre
Pentre is a village, area and electoral ward near Treorchy in the Rhondda valley, falling within the county district of Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales. The village's name is drawn from the Welsh word Pentref, which translates as homestead, though Pentre is called after a big ranch that dominated the area prior to the resulting industrialisation. The community absorbs the adjoining village of Ton Pentre. Two of one of the most noteworthy companies to have existed in the Rhondda were both created in Pentre; the Pentre Breweries as well as the Rhondda Engine Works. Population 5,232 (2011 ).
