Llanwrtyd Wells
Llanwrtyd Wells is a village and area in mid Powys, Wales, in the historic county of Brecknockshire (Breconshire) on the Afon Irfon. The community is on the A483 between Llandovery and Builth Wells and also lies near the pass between the Tywi and also Irfon valleys. The area also includes the smaller sized negotiations of Llanwrtyd and Abergwesyn, the valley of the Afon Irfon, and also a huge part of the "Desert of Wales". With a population of 850 (UK Census 2011), it declares to be the smallest community in Britain, although Fordwich in Kent has a smaller sized population. As opposed to its past background as a medical spa community, when hundreds crowded to take the waters for their claimed medicinal impacts, the area is now better understood for entertainments such as pony trekking, hill biking, walking and birdwatching, and also for its yearly Man versus Horse Marathon, Beer Event and World Bog Snorkeling Championship. The town's biggest company Charcroft Electronics is located in structures which were formerly the Dol-y-Coed Hotel. The hotel, on the banks of the Irfon, days from about 1535.
