Bodmin is a civil parish and main town in Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. It's to the south-west of Bodmin Moor. The scale of the civil parish corresponds fairly closely to that of the town so is mostly urban in character. It's bordered to the east by Cardinham parish, towards the southeast by Lanhydrock parish, to the southwest and west by Lanivet parish, and towards the north by Helland parish. As per the 2001 Census, Bodmin had a permanent resident population of 12,778 people. This population had increased to 15,000 in the 2011 Census. The town was previously the county town of Cornwall until the Crown Courts relocated to Truro, which is also the administrative centre. Bodmin was in the administrative North Cornwall District until local government reorganisation in 2009 removed the District. The town is part of the North Cornwall parliamentary constituency. Bodmin Town Council is comprised of sixteen councillors who each serve a term of four years.
