Lydbury North
Lydbury North is a town and a geographically huge civil church in south Shropshire, England.The population of the Civil Parish at the 2011 census was 695. The church is locally called Lydbury and there is no negotiation called Lydbury South. It is located at grid referral SO352859. It is located in the south west corner of the area, near to the towns of Clun and also Bishop's Castle. The B4385 road goes through the town, as does the Jack Mytton Way. To the west is the town and also parish of Colebatch. There is a part-time post office, community shop, college and church here. Additionally there is a pub called the Powis Arms. According to the Institute for Name Studies the name is Old English in derivation and means 'Fortification on the * Hlyde (= noisy stream)', maybe a very early name for the River Kemp. The town lies in between 155m and 165m above sea level. Whilst the land to the south is flat, to the north it climbs steeply. Priors Holt, Priors Holt Hillside and Churchmoor are at the northeastern extremities of the church, the church of which in Lydbury North, St Michael and All Angels, consists of a small Catholic chapel.
