Flooring Renovation in Shropshire

Renovating floors can entail a variety of tasks, from cleaning and maintenance, repairing existing flooring or even entirely removing and replacing flooring. The kind of restoration work will be based upon the variety of the pre-existing flooring. In older houses with period floors such as flagstone, quarry tile or parquet, restoration will typically require repair and cleaning of the present floor as it will likely be a desirable feature of the house. In modern properties with carpet or wood flooring, renovation is more likely to require completely replacing the current floors, either like for like with a similar material, or by changing from one material to another. For wooden flooring, the procedure of restoration often consists of sanding the top layer of wood down, cleaning and then revarnishing or staining. Tile flooring can be cleaned and any broken or damaged tiles exchanged, followed by regrouting or resealing. For carpets, maintenance can usually only extend to cleaning of the pile, any further issues or damage will commonly require replacing the carpet. Professional floor renovation companies will be able to advise you of the best solution to breathe new life into tired flooring or bring old floors up to a high standard. Specialist tools are often essential for repairing or replacing flooring.

Shropshire

The County of Shropshire is located in the West Midlands area, bordering Wales to the west. Both population and economy are centred on five towns in the region, including the county town of Shrewsbury and Telford. Shropshire enjoys a sizable land area whilst having a rather small population in comparison to some other counties, with simply 456,000 inhabitants. This provides the area a lower population density of 340 individuals per square mile. Nearly half of the total is found in the above mentioned towns. When you need any home improvements inside the Shropshire region, make certain to use nearby, reputable firms to give peace of mind and ensure quality work.

FAQs

How to repair wooden flooring

One the several of the several benefits that comes with having a wooden floor installed is the fact that damaged surfaces can be repaired without the need to replace the floor in the whole room. This is not applicable to many other types of flooring whereby even the littlest damages are not reparable. Depending on the severity and depth of the wooden flooring damage, there are a number of techniques you can incorporate to repair the affected area. For examples, minor damages will not require as much effort as corner curling or cupping. In certain cases where the job requires no expertise, the repair process can be done by any individual with no prior experience in similar works. However, in other cases, when the wooden flooring has suffered a major damage, it’s advisable to call for a professional help.

First of all, it’s quite important to always watch out and prevent any sort of damages as this is way better than spending time trying to have the damaged surface repaired. One of the ways to prevent damages is by always lifting furniture rather than just dragging it across the floor when you need to move it. However, accidents are always meant to happen. In the case of damaged wooden flooring, here are some repair solutions.

When there are small scratches on your flooring, simply add a new coating of sealer to your floor (if the floor has already been oiled, just add another layer of oil). For lacquered floors, make use of a lacquer repair pen to help get rid of the scratches. In addition, there are some DIY shops offering wax filler sticks which can be used to hide or remove both light and medium scratches on wooden flooring.
