Flooring Renovation in Ludlow

Renovating floors may involve a wide range of tasks, from cleaning and maintenance, repairing existing flooring or even entirely removing and replacing floors. The type of restoration work will be based upon the type of the present floor. In older homes with period floors like flagstone, quarry tile or parquet, restoration is likely to entail repair and cleaning of the pre-existing floor as it will likely be an important feature of the house. In newer homes with carpet or hardwood floors, renovation is more likely to require entirely changing the existing flooring, either like for like with a similar material, or by changing from one material to another. For wooden floors, the procedure of restoration commonly entails sanding the top layer of real wood down, cleaning and then revarnishing or staining. Tile floors can be cleaned and any broken or damaged tiles replaced, followed by regrouting or resealing. For carpets, maintenance can usually only extend to cleaning of the pile, any further problems or damage will generally require replacing the carpet. Experienced floor renovation companies will be able to advise you of the best method to breathe new life into tired floors or bring old flooring up to a high standard. Specialist tools might also be necessary for repairing or replacing flooring.

Ludlow

Ludlow is a market town in the English county of Shropshire. It lies about 28 miles (45 kilometres) south of Shrewsbury and 23 miles (37 km) north of Hereford using the main A49 road, which bypasses the town. According to the 2011 Census, the town has a permanent population of around 10266 people. This makes Ludlow the largest town in south Shropshire. The town is significant in the history of the Welsh Marches and neighbouring Wales. The town is near the meeting of the rivers Corve and Teme. The oldest part is the middle ages walled town, built in the late 11th century after the Norman conquest of England. It is centred on a small hill which lies on the eastern bank of a bend of the River Teme. On top of this hill is Ludlow Castle and the parish church, St Laurence's, the largest in the county. From there, the streets slope downward to the River Teme, and northward towards the River Corve. The town is in a sheltered spot beneath Mortimer Forest and the Clee Hills, which are clearly noticeable from the town. Ludlow is home to roughly 500 listed buildings. They include some fine examples of medieval and Tudor-style half-timbered buildings featuring the Feathers Hotel. The town was detailed by Sir John Betjeman as 'probably the loveliest town in England'. By the late 20th century, the town had actually seen a progression in tourism, leading to the aesthetics of various antique dealers, alongside art dealerships and independent bookshops. Bodenhams, a clothing retailer, has been trading from a 600-year-old timbered building ever since 1860 and it is among the oldest stores in Britain. For all your home refurbishments, be sure to find reputable contractors in Ludlow to make certain of quality.

FAQs

How to repair wooden flooring

One the several of the several benefits that comes with having a wooden floor installed is the fact that damaged surfaces can be repaired without the need to replace the floor in the whole room. This is not applicable to many other types of flooring whereby even the littlest damages are not reparable. Depending on the severity and depth of the wooden flooring damage, there are a number of techniques you can incorporate to repair the affected area. For examples, minor damages will not require as much effort as corner curling or cupping. In certain cases where the job requires no expertise, the repair process can be done by any individual with no prior experience in similar works. However, in other cases, when the wooden flooring has suffered a major damage, it’s advisable to call for a professional help.

First of all, it’s quite important to always watch out and prevent any sort of damages as this is way better than spending time trying to have the damaged surface repaired. One of the ways to prevent damages is by always lifting furniture rather than just dragging it across the floor when you need to move it. However, accidents are always meant to happen. In the case of damaged wooden flooring, here are some repair solutions.

When there are small scratches on your flooring, simply add a new coating of sealer to your floor (if the floor has already been oiled, just add another layer of oil). For lacquered floors, make use of a lacquer repair pen to help get rid of the scratches. In addition, there are some DIY shops offering wax filler sticks which can be used to hide or remove both light and medium scratches on wooden flooring.
