The type of restoration work will vary among the sort of the pre-existing flooring. In older houses with period floors such as flagstone, quarry tile or parquet, restoration will usually require repair and cleaning of the pre-existing floor as it will likely be a desirable feature of the home. In modern homes with carpet or real wood flooring, renovation is more likely to require completely replacing the existing floors, either like for like utilising a similar material, or by changing from one material to another. For wooden flooring, the approach of renovation generally entails sanding the top layer of wood down, cleaning and then revarnishing or staining. Tile floors can be cleaned and any broken or damaged tiles exchanged, accompanied by regrouting or resealing. For carpets, maintenance can usually only extend to cleaning of the pile, any further issues or damage will typically require replacing the carpet. Greenwich

The Royal Borough of Greenwich is a London borough in south-east London, England. Taking its name from the historic town of Greenwich, the London Borough of Greenwich was formed in 1965 by the amalgamation of the former area of the Metropolitan Borough of Greenwich with part of the Metropolitan Borough of Woolwich towards the east. The local council is Greenwich London Borough Council which meets in Woolwich Town Hall. The council's offices are also based in Woolwich, the primary urban centre within the borough. It covers an overall area of 18.28 square miles.

According to population estimates during 2014, the borough has a permanent population of around 268678 people. The Prime Meridian running through Greenwich along with the Greenwich Observatory is exactly where the designation Greenwich Mean Time, or GMT started, and on which all world times are primarily based.

Greenwich was among six host boroughs for the 2012 London Olympics and events were held at the Royal Artillery Barracks for shooting, Greenwich Park for equestrianism, and also the O2, the former Millennium Dome, for gymnastics and basketball. It is also the home borough of professional football club Charlton Athletic. To mark the Diamond Jubilee of Elizabeth II, Greenwich became a Royal Borough on 3rd February 2012. This is partly a result of its historic links with the Royal Family, and to its UNESCO World Heritage Site status as home of the Prime Meridian.

FAQs

How to repair wooden flooring

One the several of the several benefits that comes with having a wooden floor installed is the fact that damaged surfaces can be repaired without the need to replace the floor in the whole room. This is not applicable to many other types of flooring whereby even the littlest damages are not reparable. Depending on the severity and depth of the wooden flooring damage, there are a number of techniques you can incorporate to repair the affected area. For examples, minor damages will not require as much effort as corner curling or cupping. In certain cases where the job requires no expertise, the repair process can be done by any individual with no prior experience in similar works. However, in other cases, when the wooden flooring has suffered a major damage, it’s advisable to call for a professional help.

First of all, it’s quite important to always watch out and prevent any sort of damages as this is way better than spending time trying to have the damaged surface repaired. One of the ways to prevent damages is by always lifting furniture rather than just dragging it across the floor when you need to move it. However, accidents are always meant to happen. In the case of damaged wooden flooring, here are some repair solutions.

When there are small scratches on your flooring, simply add a new coating of sealer to your floor (if the floor has already been oiled, just add another layer of oil). For lacquered floors, make use of a lacquer repair pen to help get rid of the scratches. In addition, there are some DIY shops offering wax filler sticks which can be used to hide or remove both light and medium scratches on wooden flooring.
