Home Owner Marble lime stone floor to be deep cleaned and then resealed Please call to appoint
Renovating floors can involve an array of tasks, from cleaning and maintenance, repairing existing flooring or even entirely removing and replacing flooring. The kind of restoration work will vary among the sort of the present floor. In older homes with period floors such as flagstone, quarry tile or parquet, renovation will usually include repair and cleaning of the pre-existing floor as it will likely be a desirable attribute of the property. In modern properties with carpet or hardwood flooring, renovation is more likely to consist of entirely changing the existing floors, either like for like using a similar material, or by changing from one material to another. For wooden flooring, the process of restoration typically entails sanding the top layer of real wood down, cleaning and then revarnishing or staining. Tile floors can be cleaned and any broken or damaged tiles exchanged, followed by regrouting or resealing. For carpets, maintenance can usually only extend to cleaning of the pile, any further issues or damage will frequently require replacing the carpet. Specialist floor renovation companies will be able to advise you of the best solution to breathe new life into tired flooring or bring old floors up to a high standard. Specialist tools are often necessary for repairing or replacing flooring.
The typical cost of Flooring renovation is £600. Costs alter based upon the materials and the business selected. The upper price range can be as high as £690. The material costs are ordinarily around £150

Balham is a district in south London in the London Borough of Wandsworth. The settlement appears inside the Domesday Book as Belgeham. Bal signifies ‘rounded enclosure’ and ham a homestead, village or river enclosure. The area has been settled since Saxon times, and Balham Hill and Balham High Road follow the line of the Roman road Stane Street to Chichester.
Balham encompasses the A24 north of Tooting Bec and also the roads coming off it. The southern part of Balham which is near Tooting Bec has a block of 1930s Art Deco flats referred to as Du Cane Court. There's also the Heaver Estate which is in Tooting, which comprises substantial homes. It was constructed inside the grounds of the old Bedford Hill House by nearby Victorian builder Alfred Heaver.
Balham is positioned in between 4 south London commons, namely Clapham Common to the north, Wandsworth Common to the west, Tooting Graveney Common towards the south and the connecting Tooting Bec to the east.
In the Second World War, on 14th October 1940, Balham tube station was badly affected by air raids on London. Individuals sheltered inside the tube station during the raids, however a bomb fell in the High Road and through the roof of the Underground station, bursting a water and gas mains and killing around 64 individuals. Ian McEwan describes the event as part of his novel ‘Atonement’, published in 2001.

One the several of the several benefits that comes with having a wooden floor installed is the fact that damaged surfaces can be repaired without the need to replace the floor in the whole room. This is not applicable to many other types of flooring whereby even the littlest damages are not reparable. Depending on the severity and depth of the wooden flooring damage, there are a number of techniques you can incorporate to repair the affected area. For examples, minor damages will not require as much effort as corner curling or cupping. In certain cases where the job requires no expertise, the repair process can be done by any individual with no prior experience in similar works. However, in other cases, when the wooden flooring has suffered a major damage, it’s advisable to call for a professional help.
First of all, it’s quite important to always watch out and prevent any sort of damages as this is way better than spending time trying to have the damaged surface repaired. One of the ways to prevent damages is by always lifting furniture rather than just dragging it across the floor when you need to move it. However, accidents are always meant to happen. In the case of damaged wooden flooring, here are some repair solutions.
When there are small scratches on your flooring, simply add a new coating of sealer to your floor (if the floor has already been oiled, just add another layer of oil). For lacquered floors, make use of a lacquer repair pen to help get rid of the scratches. In addition, there are some DIY shops offering wax filler sticks which can be used to hide or remove both light and medium scratches on wooden flooring.
