Hungerford
Hungerford is a historical market community as well as civil church in Berkshire, England, 8 miles (13 kilometres) west of Newbury, 9 miles (14 km) east of Marlborough, 27 miles (43 kilometres) northeast of Salisbury and 60 miles (97 km) west of London. The Kennet and Avon Canal travels through the town from the west alongside the River Dun, a significant tributary of the River Kennet. The confluence with the Kennet is to the north of the centre whence canal and also river both continue eastern. Services consist of colleges, stores, cafés, dining establishments, and facilities for the major nationwide sports. The train station is a small stop on the London to Exeter (by means of Taunton) Line. The church was separated into four tithings: Hungerford or Town, Sanden Fee, Eddington with Hidden as well as Newtown and Charnham Street. North and South Standen and Charnham Street were formally detached parts of Wiltshire until moved to Berkshire in 1895. Leverton and Calcot were transferred to Hungerford church from Chilton Foliat in Wiltshire in 1895.
