The town of Hawick is in the Scottish Borders council region and in the historic county of Roxburghshire in the east Southern Uplands of Scotland. It is situated 10 miles southwest of Jedburgh and 8.9 miles south southeast of Selkirk. It is one of the towns with the most distance from the sea in Scotland, in the centre of Teviotdale, and covers an area of 1.9 square miles. In accordance with the 2011 Census, Hawick has a population of around 14294, somewhat decreasing from the 14801 residents recorded in the 2001 Census. It is, in spite of that, the biggest town in the former county of Roxburghshire. The town is recognised as being home to companies producing some of the most high-end cashmere and merino wool knitwear on Earth today, such as Hawick Cashmere, Hawick Knitwear, Johnstons of Elgin, Lyle and Scott, Peter Scott, Pringle of Scotland and Scott and Charters. Historically a town founded in linen, the very first knitting machine was purchased in 1771 and wool factories started to multiply, which promoted the progression of the town. Additionally based in the town is the Hawick Rugby Football Club and a senior football team, Hawick Royal Albert, which plays in the East of Scotland Football League. Traditionally, the Hawick Baw game was played by the 'uppies' and the 'doonies' on the very first Monday after the new moon every February, with the pitch for the game being formed by the town's river. A striking attribute of much of the architecture in Hawick to visitors is the eye-catching slate roofs on several of its buildings. For all your house upgrades, make sure to make use of respected professionals in Hawick to make certain of quality.

You should report any suspected faults to your landlord as soon as you know about them. It is their responsibility to investigate, and hire an electrician to do any work if needed. Know your obligations as a tenant and keep in touch with your landlord on a regular basis.
How Much Does Pat Testing Cost?
When it comes to Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) there’s no particular rule that determines how much such services can cost. However as a rule of thumb, you should take note that when calling in a professional PAT testing company they’re likely to charge within the range of £1 to £3 per appliance that’s going to be tested. However, if you have quite a number of appliances to be tested, then there’s a good chance that the price per appliance can be reduced to serve as a bulk discount. So the more the appliances to be tested, the better.
There are companies that actually offer a pricing that’s below £1 per item, however companies likely are most definitely going to have a fixed minimum number of appliances that are required to be tested or a fixed minimum fee like 60 portable appliances. It must, however, be noted that pricing can also go beyond PAT Testing as several professional companies will add some additional advantages which is more than just the test of each individual appliance. This kind of pricing can include other services such as a thorough visual inspection, plug rewiring as well as fuse replacements. They can also include stuffs like Pail and Fail labels in the pricing.
Generally, the average price of PAT testing will be based on various influencing factors such as the type of the appliance, setting, number of appliance to be tested as well as other related expenses. What’s more? Most PAT companies will offer a company with a PAT Testing Certificate so as to certify that the company is in total compliance and also remains a safe environment to work.
If your fuse box keeps tripping or blowing fuses, it may need replacing. Other signs that your fuse box is not working properly include humming, sparking and lack of power. Contact an electrician and ask for a safety report, this will diagnose the problem and lead to a quick fix.
You can find out roughly how old your wiring is by simply looking at it. If the wiring around your fuse box is covered in old-fashioned casing, or is damaged or fraid, it may be over 25 years old and need replacing. This is more common in older properties or houses that have been empty for long periods of time.
