Bamburgh

Bamburgh is a town and civil parish on the coast of Northumberland, England. It had a population of 454 in 2001, lowering to 414 at the 2011 census. The town is noteworthy for the neighboring Bamburgh Castle, a castle which was the seat of the previous Kings of Northumbria, and also for its association with the Victorian age heroine Grace Darling, that is buried there. Bamburgh is prominent with holidaymakers and is within the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. A selecting ward of the same name exists. This ward includes Belford and additionally stretches southern to Ellingham with a complete population taken at the 2011 census of 4,846.
