Carrbridge
Carrbridge is a town in Badenoch and also Strathspey in the Scottish Highlands. It exists off the A9 on the A938, west of Skye of Curr, southeast of Tomatin, near Bogroy. It has the oldest rock bridge in the Highlands and the nearby old pine woodland consists of the Landmark Forest Adventure Park. Carrbridge has to do with 10 km (6 mi) north of Aviemore and develops an entrance to the Cairngorms National Park. It was an early centre for winter sports in Scotland. In the 2001 census the village had a population of 708 individuals, with the majority used in tourism. Up until the 1980s bypass was created, the A9 ran directly via the town. Carrbridge is offered by Carrbridge railway station on the Highland Main Line. Local discussion still surges pertaining to the name Carrbridge itself, with some preferring to see it hyphenated to Carr-bridge. The word "Carr" has nothing to do with motorised transport but is originated from the Old Norse word for boggy location.
