Kidwelly
Kidwelly is a town and community in Carmarthenshire, southwest Wales, around 7 miles (11 kilometres) northwest of one of the most populous town in the area, Llanelli. In the 2001 census the community of Kidwelly returned a population of 3,289, raising to 3,523 at the 2011 Census. It lies on the River Gwendraeth over Carmarthen Bay. Neighborhood destinations include Kidwelly Castle, founded in 1106; a fourteenth-century bridge and gate; the previous quay (currently a nature get); a Norman parish church, and also a commercial museum. Kidwelly Carnival is a yearly occasion hung on the second Saturday of July. Previous carnivals have included aerial displays. The town is twinned with French town Saint-Jacut-de-la-Mer on the north shore of Brittany.
