Tayport
Tayport, also known as Ferry-Port on Craig, is a community as well as burgh, as well as parish, in the region of Fife, Scotland, working as a traveler community for Dundee. The adage of the Burgh is Te oportet alte ferri ("It is incumbent on you to lug yourself high"), a pun on Tayport at auld Tay Ferry. Tayport lies close to the north east pointer of Fife. To the north it looks across the River Tay to Broughty Ferry as well as Broughty Castle. To the eastern is the huge Tentsmuir Nature Reserve, a location of forested dunes determining some 3 kilometres from eastern to west as well as 6 km from north to southern as well as edged by large sands that proceed right round to the mouth of the River Eden. The civil parish of Ferry-Port on Craig has a population of 3,815 (in 2011).
