Longniddry
Longniddry is a town in East Lothian, Scotland, with a population of 2,613 (2001 census). The Scottish Women's Rural Institute was founded right here in 1917. Longniddry is largely a dorm room village for commuters, with excellent transport links by road as well as rail (Longniddry railway station is on the North Berwick Line) to the capital. The village has a number of neighborhood, community based sources including regional stores and also Longniddry Community Centre, which also houses the collection. Close to the library is the Scout Hall made use of by the Longniddry Scout Group. The golf links hosted the Carling-Caledonian Tournament in 1961. Like lots of coastal towns in East Lothian, Longniddry has a sandy coastline next to the golf course. This stretch of neighborhood coastline is lined with dunes and known as Longniddry Bents.
