Yarm
Yarm is a village in North Yorkshire, England. The town is on the south bank of the River Tees and is historically part of the North Riding of Yorkshire. The bridge at Yarm marked the furthest reach of tidal circulation up the River Tees till the opening, in 1995, of the Tees Battery, which now regulates river circulation over Stockton. As the last bridge on the river prior to the sea, it was superseded by a new toll bridge opened in Stockton in 1771. The oldest part of the community, around the High Street, is located in a loophole of the river, as well as the more recent parts of the community encompass the point where the River Leven meets the River Tees. The town is controlled as part of the District of Stockton-on-Tees.
