Barnehurst is a town and district in South East London inside the London Borough of Bexley. It is north east of Bexleyheath, and is 13 miles east south-east of Charing Cross. It's separated from North Bexleyheath by the A220 Erith Road.
The town was established following the sale of land in 1881 to create the Bexleyheath loop line in between Lewisham and Dartford. Its name stems from the name of the railway station, which was named after Colonel Barne, who owned a nearby home and was vice-chairman of the railway company. Today, the railway station runs trains in between London Charing Cross, London Victoria or London Cannon Street, via Lewisham and Eltham to the west and Dartford railway station towards the east. There are 12 trains each hour for the duration of the week; on Sundays, there are four trains per hour. The railway station was openedto encourage the building of homes. The Barnehurst Estate was constructed in 1926 which housed many individuals.
Along with the railway station, Barnehurst is served by five buses, one of which goes to the well-liked Bluewater Shopping Centre. There are few purchasing or leisure opportunities inside the town, so individuals generally go to surrounding areas working with public transport links or the main roads.
Barnehurst is property towards the non-league football club Phoenix Sports FC, which plays at Phoenimx Sports Ground.
