Gas Boiler (Repair & Servicing) in Knaresborough

Seeking a boiler repair or service in Knaresborough? Our engineers in Knaresborough will be able to supply you with the perfect quotes for having a central heating boiler repair or service carried out.

Central heating boilers are among the most significant areas of any property, giving heating and hot water all year round. Therefore any problems need to be taken care of previous to becoming a significant problem.

In the heart of winter it can cost a minimum of £200 simply in call-out charges for an engineer. This is before the cost of replacement components.

In order to avoid coughing up a lot of money, make certain to have your central heating boiler serviced yearly so any problems can be found as soon as possible. As well as this, having a service will make sure your central heating boiler is running efficiently, lowering your costs.

The service may also highlight any threat too, like a carbon monoxide leak. Carbon monoxide poisoning is liable for 100s of deaths and hospitalisations every year, so be certain this doesn't happen to you.

We're able to provide you with up to four engineers, who will offer quotes for the work. You'll receive a house visit from professionals within Knaresborough who will provide the boiler repair or service for a great price.

Knaresborough

Knaresborough is a historic market town, spa town and civil parish in the Borough of Harrogate, North Yorkshire, England. In the past an area of the West Riding of Yorkshire, it is set on the River Nidd, 4 miles east from the centre of Harrogate. The town is reported in the Domesday Book of 1086 as 'Cenheard's fortress', with the name of the region going through various changes over the next couple of centuries. The advancement of the town began around 1100, when it started to provide a market and appeal to traders to service the castle. The town was not awarded a royal charter to verify its status as a market town until 1310 by Edward II. A market continues to be held every Wednesday in the market square throughout the year. There countless landmarks littered all over the town that draw in frequent visitors. Some examples include the remains of Knaresborough Castle, the House in the Rock, the train viaduct over the River Nidd, and St. Robert's Cave. Knaresborough is also home to 'Ye Oldest Chymist Shoppe' in England, which opened in 1720, a time in which there was much suspicion about such establishments. The town is also host to a number of social and cultural tourist attractions throughout the year. It has held the yearly Bed Race since 1966, which is arranged by the Knaresborough Lions Club, and the Festival of Entertainment and Visual Arts (FEVA), a yearly arts summer festival in the town centre, since 2001. There are 15 working bars in the town, as well as a wine bar and several restaurants. For all your home upgrades, make certain to make use of credible specialists in Knaresborough to make certain of quality.

FAQs

How to repair a boiler leak?

If your boiler is leaking, there are some checks that you can do yourself. However, you should never attempt to repair your boiler yourself – only a Gas Safe-registered engineer should conduct repairs.

There are 3 main reasons why your boiler might be leaking: there’s a pressure valve fault, a temperature valve leak or corrosion in the system. An engineer will be able to spot the problem quickly, but in the meantime there are a few things you can do:

Check the pipe fittings

If your boiler is leaking water around the pipe fittings, it could be an installation fault and you should get in touch with the engineer that fitted it. You can check the pipe fittings by drying the area then waiting to see if the water appears again. If it does, you may be able to do a ¼ turn of the pipe to stop it. However, you should still call the engineer that installed it to ask them to check the PTFE tape on the inside.

Inspect the seals

Over time, the rubber seals on a boiler can start to perish, so if you have an old boiler this could be the source of your leak. If you have a new boiler, it could be caused by your boiler running over pressure.

Heat exchanger corrosion

Unfortunately, if a boiler engineer discovers that the boiler is leaking water from the heat exchanger, this is the end of the road for your system. The heat exchanger is the most expensive part of your boiler, so it makes more financial sense to replace your boiler with a newer, more efficient model rather than try to replace it.

How often should I have a boiler service?

You should have your boiler serviced every year. This ensures that your central heating system is running safely and efficiently, but it’s often also a requirement to keep your boiler’s warranty valid. To avoid disruption to your heating, the best time of year to service your boiler is the summer. You’ll often find that boiler companies will charge less because they have less work.

does home insurance cover boiler repairs?

Does Home Insurance Cover Boiler Repairs?

When winter comes, your boiler is most likely to be one of the most used appliances in your home. It keeps operating for several hours to ensure your house remains warm and conducive and then during those cold evenings, it supplies the much needed hot water to guarantee a restive night. But with so much usage and many moving parts, you’d naturally expect your boiler to breakdown at some point especially if it’s 7 years old or above. So what’s the next line of action when it happens, leaving your radiators off and water cold? With the likely high boiler repair cost, it’s only logical to consider whether your boiler repairs is covered by your home insurance.

In almost all situations, the standard home insurance will not provide coverage for the cost of repairing or replacing a broken boiler. Being fully aware that boiler breakdowns are mostly caused by a lack or not so regular maintenance practices or servicing, most home insurance providers will exclude it from this from their offerings. In fact, a home insurance is more likely to provide coverage for the damage that has happened as a result of a broken appliance. For instance, the damage caused as a result of gas, oil or water leaking from a boiler are more likely to be paid for by the home insurance providers, but they’ll not pay for the repair or replacement of the broken boiler itself.

If you need our home insurance to cover your boiler repair, then you might just be able to get an extra insurance cover from your provider that includes a broken boiler repair. You can consult them to determine if this is possible as well as the cost to be paid per month. This will normally cost about £5 to £10 per month, but it gives you a peace of mind knowing you’re covered if your boiler happens to breakdown.

how to fix a boiler?

How To Fix A Boiler

A boiler is subjected to regular usage, working for a several hours a day and providing hot water for shower on a daily basis and even more so during winter. With it’s power and efficiency, we tend to postpone or even totally overlook its maintenance. However, no matter how good your boiler is, it consists of many moving components and it’ll certainly develop some faults some day. When the inevitable occurs, you might want to save some money and get it fixed all by yourself.

When it comes to fixing boilers, seeking help from a licensed heating engineer is usually the best solution, however at times you might be just lucky to be faced with minor issues which you should be able to handle yourself. In this article, we’ll look at some of the most common causes of a broken boiler and how you can get your heating system up and running again. Let’s have a look!

✓ Low system pressure. In the event whereby your boiler display a low system pressure, it could mean that the system is about to breakdown. You’ll have to carry out regular inspections on the pressure gauge to see if there’s any noticeable changes and call in a heating engineer immediately to prevent a system breakdown from happening.

✓ Poor heat production. Although this is unlikely to lead to any great issues, but it’ll reduce the effective functioning of your heating system. To prevent a debris build, it’s important to have your boiler cleaned regularly.

✓ Strange noises. Boilers often make noises, so there’s nothing to worry about unless it’s a banging or whistling noise that’s very odd , then there may be a serious issue. You’ll have to check the air intake, pressure, exhaust and piping to ensure they’re working just fine, if not there may be a need for replacement.
