Gas Boiler (Repair & Servicing) in Belvedere

Looking for a combi boiler repair or service within Belvedere? Our engineers in Belvedere can offer you the ideal quotations for having a central heating boiler repair or service completed.

Central heating boilers are one of the most crucial areas of any household, giving heat and hot water all through the year. Therefore any problems must be handled ahead of turning into a major problem.

In the middle of winter it may cost at least £200 simply in call-out fees for an engineer. This is before the cost of replacement components.

To avoid paying out a significant amount of money, be certain to get your central heating boiler serviced yearly so any problems can be detected as quickly as possible. Moreover, having a service assures that your boiler is running efficiently, cutting your charges.

The service may also highlight any threat too, like a carbon monoxide leak. Carbon monoxide poisoning accounts for hundreds of deaths and hospitalisations annually, so ensure this doesn't happen to you.

We are able to provide you with as many as 4 engineers, who'll provide quotes for the work. You'll be given a house visit from experts in Belvedere who will supply the boiler repair or service for a great price.

Average Boiler repair and service cost in Belvedere

The regular cost of a boiler service is around £72, but you could pay anything between £58 and £100. The regular cost of a repair is £182 a time, but it depends on the repair. The regular cost of a replacement gas valve or expansion vessel, for example, is £300 each, plus labour of about £50 per hour. National companies may charge more than small local companies since they have more overheads. You’ll also find seasonal differences, as companies charge less in the summer when they are less busy than in the winter when they have lots of work.

Belvedere

Belvedere is a town of south east London, England within the London Borough of Bexley. It is located south east of Thamesmead and is located about 12 miles (19 km) southeast of Charing Cross. Belvedere was in Kent, and still has a Kent postcode. It was part of the Municipal Borough of Erith ahead of 1965 and development occurred prior to the Second World War, with considerable rebuilding following the Blitz. Regardless of this, Upper Belvedere as well as the Village still preserves a great deal of its Victorian and Edwardian charm and character. Upper Belvedere is home to a church and several Victorian and Edwardian brick villas. It boasts numerous classic pubs, restaurants and retail outlets. These include The Eardley Arms on Woolwich Road, The Vic on Victoria Street, The Royal Standard in the heart of the village and the Fox in Belvedere village. Upper Belvedere is also home to a big park and a library which was under threat of being closed down due to the government's cuts. Fortunately closure threats have been averted as a result from the efforts with the local neighbourhood. A new 'Splash Park', which opened its doors in 2005, was a welcome addition to the village, having been developed on the site of an old Victorian paddling pool. The splash park retains parts of the original paddling pool buildings. Between 1898 and 1961, Callender's Cable Works, at the Erith Works, was patron to Callender's Cableworks Band, an amateur brass band made up of staff of the business. The band was a prolific broadcaster on BBC Radio in the 1920s and 1930s. For all of your home upgrades, make certain that you choose reputable pros in Belvedere to ensure that you get a top quality service.

FAQs

How often should I have a boiler service?

You should have your boiler serviced every year. This ensures that your central heating system is running safely and efficiently, but it’s often also a requirement to keep your boiler’s warranty valid. To avoid disruption to your heating, the best time of year to service your boiler is the summer. You’ll often find that boiler companies will charge less because they have less work.

How to repair a boiler leak?

If your boiler is leaking, there are some checks that you can do yourself. However, you should never attempt to repair your boiler yourself – only a Gas Safe-registered engineer should conduct repairs.

There are 3 main reasons why your boiler might be leaking: there’s a pressure valve fault, a temperature valve leak or corrosion in the system. An engineer will be able to spot the problem quickly, but in the meantime there are a few things you can do:

Check the pipe fittings

If your boiler is leaking water around the pipe fittings, it could be an installation fault and you should get in touch with the engineer that fitted it. You can check the pipe fittings by drying the area then waiting to see if the water appears again. If it does, you may be able to do a ¼ turn of the pipe to stop it. However, you should still call the engineer that installed it to ask them to check the PTFE tape on the inside.

Inspect the seals

Over time, the rubber seals on a boiler can start to perish, so if you have an old boiler this could be the source of your leak. If you have a new boiler, it could be caused by your boiler running over pressure.

Heat exchanger corrosion

Unfortunately, if a boiler engineer discovers that the boiler is leaking water from the heat exchanger, this is the end of the road for your system. The heat exchanger is the most expensive part of your boiler, so it makes more financial sense to replace your boiler with a newer, more efficient model rather than try to replace it.

how to fix a broken boiler?

How To Fix A Broken Boiler

To fix any problem when it comes to home appliances, the first step is always to identify the problem while also carrying out thorough checks - a broken boiler is not an exception. Putting enough time and effort in diagnosing a problem can go a lot way to save you both time and money. So here are some of the steps you can take to fix your broken boiler before you put a call out to a licensed engineer.

✓ Check to confirm if your pilot light is on. Whenever you’re facing some issues with your boiler, this should always be the first thing you do. The pilot light being on speak volumes, if the light is off then there’s absolutely no way the flame can start the appliance’s gas supply. You should try to put it back on, if off. To do this, you simply have to follow the detailed instructions on your boiler’s manual strictly. If after following these actions to the letter and the issue remains the same, then you’d probably need the services of an a qualified engineer. Never try to fix the issue on your own.

✓ Check the pressure. The solution to the headaches might sometimes be as simple as examining your appliance’s pressure gauge. Here, the good numbers are around 1.0 or1.5, if it happens to fall below this, then you should open the boiler’s instruction manual. You can also inspect your radiator valves for any leaks. You’d have to call in a specialist to solve the issue.

✓ Check the thermostat. Here, it’s important to note that a faulty thermostat doesn’t necessarily imply a broken boiler. It may just signify that you need to replace your thermostat. Simply check to ensure that your thermostat is turned on and temperature is at the appropriate degree.

does home insurance cover boiler repairs?

Does Home Insurance Cover Boiler Repairs?

When winter comes, your boiler is most likely to be one of the most used appliances in your home. It keeps operating for several hours to ensure your house remains warm and conducive and then during those cold evenings, it supplies the much needed hot water to guarantee a restive night. But with so much usage and many moving parts, you’d naturally expect your boiler to breakdown at some point especially if it’s 7 years old or above. So what’s the next line of action when it happens, leaving your radiators off and water cold? With the likely high boiler repair cost, it’s only logical to consider whether your boiler repairs is covered by your home insurance.

In almost all situations, the standard home insurance will not provide coverage for the cost of repairing or replacing a broken boiler. Being fully aware that boiler breakdowns are mostly caused by a lack or not so regular maintenance practices or servicing, most home insurance providers will exclude it from this from their offerings. In fact, a home insurance is more likely to provide coverage for the damage that has happened as a result of a broken appliance. For instance, the damage caused as a result of gas, oil or water leaking from a boiler are more likely to be paid for by the home insurance providers, but they’ll not pay for the repair or replacement of the broken boiler itself.

If you need our home insurance to cover your boiler repair, then you might just be able to get an extra insurance cover from your provider that includes a broken boiler repair. You can consult them to determine if this is possible as well as the cost to be paid per month. This will normally cost about £5 to £10 per month, but it gives you a peace of mind knowing you’re covered if your boiler happens to breakdown.
