Gas Boiler (Repair & Servicing) in Abergavenny

Searching for a boiler repair or service within Abergavenny? Our engineers in Abergavenny will be able to provide you with the perfect quotations for having a boiler repair or service carried out.

Central heating boilers are one of the most significant areas of any property, supplying heat and hot water all through the year. Therefore any issues must be managed previous to becoming a significant issue.

In the midst of winter it can cost at least £200 just in call-out costs for an engineer. This is prior to a cost of replacing components.

In order to avoid coughing up a significant amount of money, make certain to have your central heating boiler serviced every year so any issues can be discovered at the earliest opportunity. As well as this, having a service will ensure your central heating boiler is working efficiently, lowering your expenses.

The service will even showcase any danger too, like a carbon monoxide leak. Carbon monoxide poisoning is responsible for hundreds of deaths and hospitalisations yearly, so make sure this doesn't happen to you.

We are able to give you up to 4 engineers, who will supply quotes for the work. You'll receive a house visit from experts within Abergavenny who will offer the central heating boiler repair or service for a great price.

Average Boiler repair and service cost in Abergavenny

The regular cost of a boiler service is around £72, but you could pay anything between £58 and £100. The regular cost of a repair is £182 a time, but it depends on the repair. The regular cost of a replacement gas valve or expansion vessel, for example, is £300 each, plus labour of about £50 per hour. Abergavenny

Abergavenny is a market town in Monmouthshire, Wales. It is approximately 6 miles from the English border and 15 miles west of Monmouth, and has a population of 10,078. It was originally the location of a Roman fort and it became a medieval walled town in the Welsh Marches. Abergavenny also contains the remnants of a medieval stone castle erected after the Norman conquest of Wales.

The town is often called 'the Gateway to Wales'. It sits at the confluence of the tributary stream Gavenny and the River Usk. It is surrounded by the mountains Blorenge and Sugar Loaf, and five hills. There is access to the Black Mountains and the Brecon Beacons National Park through the town.

The amount of Welsh speakers in Abergavenny has increased a lot in recent years. The 2001 census showed that 10% of the population spoke Welsh, whereas in 1991 2% said they spoke it. The town also has a Welsh-speaking primary school called Ysgol Gymraeg y Fenni.

FAQs

How to repair a boiler leak?

If your boiler is leaking, there are some checks that you can do yourself. However, you should never attempt to repair your boiler yourself – only a Gas Safe-registered engineer should conduct repairs.

There are 3 main reasons why your boiler might be leaking: there’s a pressure valve fault, a temperature valve leak or corrosion in the system. An engineer will be able to spot the problem quickly, but in the meantime there are a few things you can do:

Check the pipe fittings

If your boiler is leaking water around the pipe fittings, it could be an installation fault and you should get in touch with the engineer that fitted it. You can check the pipe fittings by drying the area then waiting to see if the water appears again. If it does, you may be able to do a ¼ turn of the pipe to stop it. However, you should still call the engineer that installed it to ask them to check the PTFE tape on the inside.

Inspect the seals

Over time, the rubber seals on a boiler can start to perish, so if you have an old boiler this could be the source of your leak. If you have a new boiler, it could be caused by your boiler running over pressure.

Heat exchanger corrosion

Unfortunately, if a boiler engineer discovers that the boiler is leaking water from the heat exchanger, this is the end of the road for your system. The heat exchanger is the most expensive part of your boiler, so it makes more financial sense to replace your boiler with a newer, more efficient model rather than try to replace it.

Can I repair my own boiler?

No. You must never repair your own boiler – only a Gas Safe-registered engineer can do any work on your boiler. You can do simple DIY tasks to repressurise your boiler or stop a leak, but if you have to remove the outer casing of the boiler or touch the flue then you must get a qualified boiler engineer to take a look at your central heating system.

How often should I have a boiler service?

You should have your boiler serviced every year. This ensures that your central heating system is running safely and efficiently, but it’s often also a requirement to keep your boiler’s warranty valid. To avoid disruption to your heating, the best time of year to service your boiler is the summer. You’ll often find that boiler companies will charge less because they have less work.

can i repair my own gas boiler?

Can I Repair My Own Gas Boiler?

If you’re more of an handy person, then you’d probably want to fix everything you can around the house while saving yourself some money that would have been spent on hiring a professional instead. This is a very cost effective but at the same time you must know that some tasks are usually more difficult than others, and a good example of those complex tasks is boiler repair. Not only can this be very tough, but they can also potentially be one of the most dangerous home appliances you can acquire. So with that in mind, what can be done to ensure your gas boiler is taken care of and in the event whereby it starts to malfunction, what can be done to remedy the situation?

With regular maintenance and repair of your gas boiler, you’d have absolutely nothing to worry about. However one of the fear several DIYers have is the fact that they might just end up incurring more expenses on services they didn’t really need in the first place. But when it comes to gas boilers, it’s necessary to be certified to work with them as it’s very dangerous to tackle it all by yourself. Despite this, there are still some minor issues that you wouldn’t need to hire a technician to resolve. In some cases, all that would be needed is simply to reset the boiler. To identify where the reset button is, simply go through your boiler’s manual for more information. Most times, all you’ll have to do is press down the reset button for a couple of seconds. If the boiler isn’t fully restored to its normal proper functioning state after two resets, then you may need to call in a professional for help.
