Gas Boiler (Repair & Servicing) in Aberdare

Searching for a boiler repair or service in Aberdare? Our engineers in Aberdare are going to offer the very best quotations for having a boiler repair or service completed.

Central heating boilers are among the most crucial areas of any home, providing heating and hot water all year long. This means any issues have to be taken care of before turning into a significant problem.

In the middle of winter it could cost at least £200 simply in call-out fees for an engineer. This is prior to a cost of replacing pieces.

In order to avoid spending a significant amount of money, be sure to have your boiler serviced on an annual basis so any faults could be found at the earliest opportunity. Moreover, having a service will guarantee your boiler is running effectively, reducing your expenses.

The service will even highlight any threat too, such as a carbon monoxide leak. Carbon monoxide poisoning is accountable to hundreds of deaths and hospitalisations every year, so make sure this doesn't happen to you.

We can provide you up to four engineers, who will offer quotations for the work. You'll receive a house visit from experts within Aberdare who'll supply the central heating boiler repair or service for a great price.

Average Boiler repair and service cost in Aberdare

The regular cost of a boiler service is around £72, but you could pay anything between £58 and £100. The regular cost of a repair is £182 a time, but it depends on the repair. The regular cost of a replacement gas valve or expansion vessel, for example, is £300 each, plus labour of about £50 per hour. National companies may charge more than small local companies since they have more overheads. You’ll also find seasonal differences, as companies charge less in the summer when they are less busy than in the winter when they have lots of work.

Aberdare

Aberdare is a large town in the Cynon Valley district of Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales. The population was 31,705 at the 2001 census, which makes Aberdare the 13th most populous town in Wales. It is 20 miles north-west of Cardiff and 22 miles north-east of Swansea.

Aberdare grew into an active industrial town in the 19th century, when it became a centre of iron and tin production. Later there were many coal mines in the town which expanded its population as people moved there to work. Now that the coal mines have shut, the landscape has remains of its past but nature has renewed it to its former beauty.

The town goes back far into history, with ancient burial sites and standing stones still visible today. There is a lot of Victorian architecture still around in Aberdare that links with its colourful past.

Aberdare is a busy town with lots of shops and restaurants. It is just a 40 minute train journey from Cardiff, so it's easy to enjoy the countryside around Aberdale and then jump on the train to take advantage of what the city has on offer.

If your home in Aberdale requires a replacement boiler, ensure that you look at quotes from a minimum of three reputable engineers.

FAQs

How often should I have a boiler service?

You should have your boiler serviced every year. This ensures that your central heating system is running safely and efficiently, but it’s often also a requirement to keep your boiler’s warranty valid. To avoid disruption to your heating, the best time of year to service your boiler is the summer. You’ll often find that boiler companies will charge less because they have less work.

How to repair a boiler leak?

If your boiler is leaking, there are some checks that you can do yourself. However, you should never attempt to repair your boiler yourself – only a Gas Safe-registered engineer should conduct repairs.

There are 3 main reasons why your boiler might be leaking: there’s a pressure valve fault, a temperature valve leak or corrosion in the system. An engineer will be able to spot the problem quickly, but in the meantime there are a few things you can do:

Check the pipe fittings

If your boiler is leaking water around the pipe fittings, it could be an installation fault and you should get in touch with the engineer that fitted it. You can check the pipe fittings by drying the area then waiting to see if the water appears again. If it does, you may be able to do a ¼ turn of the pipe to stop it. However, you should still call the engineer that installed it to ask them to check the PTFE tape on the inside.

Inspect the seals

Over time, the rubber seals on a boiler can start to perish, so if you have an old boiler this could be the source of your leak. If you have a new boiler, it could be caused by your boiler running over pressure.

Heat exchanger corrosion

Unfortunately, if a boiler engineer discovers that the boiler is leaking water from the heat exchanger, this is the end of the road for your system. The heat exchanger is the most expensive part of your boiler, so it makes more financial sense to replace your boiler with a newer, more efficient model rather than try to replace it.

how much does a boiler repair cost?

How Much Does A Boiler Repair Cost?

An annual service for your boiler might not seem important and may be easy to postpone to another day, but when it happens to breakdown due to lack of adequate attention, this can be quite painful and also costly.

Before you start thinking about the cost of repairing your boiler, the first thing you’ll need to confirm is whether or not your boiler is still covered by the manufacturer’s warranty. You’d be amazed some warranties can last for as long as 12 years, if yours is still on then you can save yourself a huge amount of of money on your boiler repair. As a result, it’s always crucial to keep the details of your warranty somewhere safe, so you can read them from time to time. You never can tell when the rainy day will come!

Most boiler warranties will require your to get your boiler serviced on an annual basis by a licensed and qualified technician. The cost of an annual boiler service is affected by the time of the year you wish to get it done. When boilers are less useful during the summer months, an annual service is usually relatively cheap when compared to the cold months. Around this period, a boiler service will normally cost within the range of £100 to £150, however for a more accurate quote it’s advisable to contact a couple of professionals and compare their quotes.

The cost of getting a boiler repaired will be affected by a couple of factors including your boiler’s make, the age of the boiler as well as your location and how urgent you need it done. If you have a dead boiler, the cost will typically range from £96 to £348 and a boiler displaying a fault code will cost within the range of £90 to £275. Generally, repairing a boiler will cost within the range of £90 to £400 based on the several factors stated above.

how to fix a boiler?

How To Fix A Boiler

A boiler is subjected to regular usage, working for a several hours a day and providing hot water for shower on a daily basis and even more so during winter. With it’s power and efficiency, we tend to postpone or even totally overlook its maintenance. However, no matter how good your boiler is, it consists of many moving components and it’ll certainly develop some faults some day. When the inevitable occurs, you might want to save some money and get it fixed all by yourself.

When it comes to fixing boilers, seeking help from a licensed heating engineer is usually the best solution, however at times you might be just lucky to be faced with minor issues which you should be able to handle yourself. In this article, we’ll look at some of the most common causes of a broken boiler and how you can get your heating system up and running again. Let’s have a look!

✓ Low system pressure. In the event whereby your boiler display a low system pressure, it could mean that the system is about to breakdown. You’ll have to carry out regular inspections on the pressure gauge to see if there’s any noticeable changes and call in a heating engineer immediately to prevent a system breakdown from happening.

✓ Poor heat production. Although this is unlikely to lead to any great issues, but it’ll reduce the effective functioning of your heating system. To prevent a debris build, it’s important to have your boiler cleaned regularly.

✓ Strange noises. Boilers often make noises, so there’s nothing to worry about unless it’s a banging or whistling noise that’s very odd , then there may be a serious issue. You’ll have to check the air intake, pressure, exhaust and piping to ensure they’re working just fine, if not there may be a need for replacement.
