Tonypandy
Tonypandy is a town and neighborhood located in the area district of Rhondda Cynon Taf, within the historical county borders of Glamorgan, Wales, lying in the Rhondda Fawr Valley. A previous commercial coal mining town, today Tonypandy is best known as the website of the 1910 Tonypandy riots. Tonypandy indicates fulling mill lea, from Welsh load (antiquated tonnau) for lea, layland, pasture, meadow or unploughed land; pannu for fulling and also ty for house (cf. pandy).
