Redbridge
The London Borough of Redbridge is a London borough in North-East London, England. The borough was established in 1965 by the London Government Act 1963 as a merger of the former area of Ilford, Dagenham, Wanstead and Woodford and Chigwell Urban District. Its administrative headquarters is at Redbridge Town Hall in Ilford. The local authority is Redbridge London Borough Council. Redbridge is a borough that covers a total of 21.78 square miles. The borough is known as the 'leafy suburb' with one quarter of the borough covered by forest and green.
In line with population estimates made in the middle of 2014, the borough has a permanent population of around 293055 inhabitants.|Redbridge has the third highest proportion of children as well as a higher-than-average proportion of older adults while the proportion of working age adults is slightly below average. Three quarters of homes are owner-occupied.
Redbridge is one of London's greenest Boroughs, with greater than 35 parks, playgrounds and open spaces to enjoy. These consist of Hainault Forest Country Park, featuring 300 acres of countryside which includes adventure play areas, cafe and a petting zoo; Roding Valley Park, a wildlife sanctuary with a wide selection of flora and fauna and woodland areas to discover; and Fairlop Waters Country Park, which presents a massive array of activities both on and off the water.|The award-winning Valentines Park is positioned next to the stunning Valentines Mansion, ornamental gardens, bowling green and outside gym among other attractions.
The borough is particularly well-known for its award-winning parks, six of which have attained the distinguished Green Flag Award, and open spaces, outstanding transport links, thriving shopping places and high-performing schools.
