North Berwick
North Berwick is a seaside community and previous royal burgh in East Lothian, Scotland. It is positioned on the south coast of the Firth of Forth, approximately 20 miles (32 kilometres) east-northeast of Edinburgh. North Berwick ended up being a fashionable vacation resort in the nineteenth century due to its two sandy bays, the East (or Milsey) Bay and the West Bay, and continues to bring in holidaymakers. Golf courses at the ends of each bay are open to site visitors. The dimension as well as population of the town remained fairly constant up until the 1970s, whereupon housebuilding began in earnest around the periphery of the community, first to the south (1950s-- 70s), then a series of major growths to the west (1980s-present) along the line of the train. There is talk of additional developments concentrating on "budget friendly real estate" on the south side of the community. While the population could not have really "exploded", house costs have. North Berwick regularly shows up at the top of national residence price surveys, and like-for-like rates are comparable to Edinburgh. North Berwick was detailed as the most pricey seaside community in Scotland in 2006, and also was second to St. Andrews in 2009.
