Cockermouth
Cockermouth is an old market community and also civil parish in the District of Allerdale in Cumbria, England, so named because it is at the assemblage of the River Cocker as it flows right into the River Derwent. The mid-2010 census estimates specify that Cockermouth has a population of 8,204, raising to 8,761 at the 2011 Census. Historically a part of Cumberland, Cockermouth is situated outside the English Lake District on its northwest fringe. Much of the building core of the community stays unchanged considering that the fundamental medieval design was filled out the 18th and 19th centuries. The regenerated market location is currently a central historic emphasis within the town and also shows events from its 800-year background. The community is prone to flooding and experienced serious floodings in 2005, 2009, as well as 2015.
