Marlow

Marlow, (traditionally called Great Marlow or Chipping Marlow) is a town and civil parish within the Wycombe district in south Buckinghamshire, England. It is located on the River Thames, 4 miles (6.5 km) south-southwest of High Wycombe, 5 miles (8 kilometres) west-northwest of Maidenhead and 33 miles (53 kilometres) west of central London. Marlow is noted in the Domesday Book as Merlaue. There has actually been a bridge above the Thames at Marlow since the reign of King Edward III. The existing bridge is a suspension bridge, designed by William Tierney Clark in 1832, and was a mock-up for the much wider Széchenyi Chain Bridge spanning the River Danube in Budapest. Marlow is served by a train station which is the terminus of a single-track branch line from Maidenhead. The train service is referred to as the Marlow Donkey, which was the nickname given to the steam locomotives that previously operated on the line. There is also a bar with the same name, situated near the railway station. Marlow Rowing Club, founded in 1871, is among Britain's premier rowing clubs and has actually produced several Olympic oarsmen including Sir Steve Redgrave. The club is based by Marlow Bridge and exercises above and below the lock. The town has a football club called Marlow F.C. There are two regattas associated with Marlow; the Marlow Town Regatta and Marlow International Regatta. Earliest records suggest a regatta happened every year on the River Thames in Marlow from 1855. The latter transferred to the purpose-built Dorney Lake, owned by Eton College, in 2003. Marlow still hosts its Original River Regatta which takes place every year in June. For all of your home upgrades, make certain to make use of dependable professionals in Marlow to make certain of quality.

FAQs

Can I use a biomass boiler with other forms of heating?

Biomass boilers can be designed to work with other kinds of heating. The most common of these is solar thermal. This is a popular renewable energy pairing. Solar thermal heating will meet your hot water needs during the summer while a biomass boiler can operate as a backup during the winter when solar thermal panels do not perform as well.

Is a biomass boiler compatible with my existing central heating system?

Biomass boilers will work with existing central heating systems, presuming this is not decades old, whether they use radiators or under floor heating. A surveyor will check the existing system you have in place before quoting for or recommending a biomass boiler to you.

Do biomass boilers need lots of maintenance?

Biomass boilers do require some maintenance. Many manufacturers recommend servicing twice a year, although this is often included in the installation cost. Many systems have automatic fuel loading that removes the need to manually load fuel. You will need to remove the ash from the boiler, but this is as easy as emptying a vacuum cleaner.

Do biomass boilers take up lots of space?

Many domestic biomass boilers are no bigger than a standard gas boiler. However, they do require a flue, a feeder and a space to store the fuel. These can be designed to suit many different properties and will fit in lots of homes or a garage or outbuilding.
