Asbestos removal is an important process in UK structures. For development reasons asbestos was previously very well liked in the United Kingdom largely due to its insulating attributes. But with connected health risks the Government enforced a ban on its use in 2006.
In spite of this you will find thousands of houses with asbestos used in the ceilings and walls. And the effects of lengthy exposure can be quite damaging for your health, with two types of lung cancer linked with asbestos.
If you wish to have asbestos removed from your own home, a Health and Safety Executive will conduct an assessment to determine if it's present. If this is the case it must be a priority to have removed, because if you become clinically determined to have an asbestos connected condition it will often be too far gone.
For your safety, make sure to use our service to assess quotations from professionals in your area. We'll match your requirements with as many as four companies so that you can get a free quotation for the work and take the issue from there.
Asbestos removal costs fluctuate according to the amount of material you have that needs removing, how easy it is to access and remove, and your location. However, the average price for an asbestos removal project in the UK is about £800.

Hook is a town and civil parish within the Hart district of northern Hampshire, England. It lies 6.2 miles east of Basingstoke and 36 miles northeast of Southampton and 41 miles northeast of London. Before the 18th century, the town included a scattering of farms. Situated on the major London to Exeter stagecoach route, a turnpike road was constructed at the end of the 18th century to aid the navigation of the Scures Hill. According to the 2011 Census, Hook has a population of 8334 residents. While the population of the town continues to be small, it has witnessed considerable growth since development in the 1980s. Hook continued to grow with the construction of the Holt Park residential district between 2004 and 2006. There is a high level of wealth in Hook, with rural estates such as Tylney Hall Park and Garden, which is Grade II * listed, and Hook Common, which is a significant combination of forest and acid heathland. The town has practical and dependable rail connections to London Waterloo and Basingstoke, with indirect routes to Reading, Salisbury and Southampton from Hook Railway Station. The development of the railway station in 1883 enabled the development of the town after train workers and commuters started to settle in the region. The town is noted for its considerable business community, such as the substantial Bartley Wood Business Park being under a distance of 1 kilometre from the town centre. For all your house upgrades, make sure to make use of trusted professionals in Hook to make certain of quality.

Can I Remove Asbestos Myself?
If you’re an individual who owns or control buildings, you’re required by the law to carry out asbestos management and reasonably so. Asbestos is a very dangerous and life threatening material which comes with a host of potential diseases related to exposure and therefore, it’s required to be removed from any building once discovered.
Majority of these diseases are not treated and in the UK alone, there has been about 4,500 deaths per year that has been attributable to asbestos exposure. Hence, this explains why this topic is considered crucial to the legislators.
When it comes to asbestos containing materials removal, this should only be done if necessary and ultimately, only by a person who possesses the skills, knowledge and expertise to make sure that the removal is done safely and to the highest possible standards. Exposure to asbestos poses great health risks. And although when left alone the material can only cause little harm, but the real threat comes when disturbed which implies that asbestos removal is a gravely dangerous process if not handle with skill and care.
Due to this fact, the law has taken a very serious stance that only skilled specialist are allowed to handle the task. Therefore, if you want to know if you can undertake this task by yourself, it’s important to consult your local authority to know the stance of the law in your state. We’d however recommend that you do not attempt this by yourself as the dangers are simply too much. The cost of asbestos containing materials removal can be somewhat costly, but when you look at the threat it poses to both you and your loved ones, you’d realize that it’s worth the price.
If you find out there’s asbestos in your property, it’s not always necessary to remove it. Asbestos is relatively low-risk if it’s contained in a material. This means that, if the material it’s in is in good condition, it shouldn’t be a problem.
However, if a material containing asbestos is damaged, or you want to remove, sand or drill into it, it’s best to have it removed by a licensed professional.
If you’re thinking about having your asbestos removed, you have two options - either you take on the project yourself or you call in a reliable professional for help. If you do not have enough time on your plate or perhaps you’re not confident enough to carry out this project on your own, then you’d have to reach out to an expert and of course, it comes with a cost.
The cost of removing asbestos is, however, not fixed as it depends on many factors. These factors works to decrease or increase the cost of removing asbestos. The factors include the type of asbestos material that needs to be removed, if the material can be encapsulated rather than removed, if the material has been sampled and tested, the location where the works would be carried out, size of the area, the accessibility of the asbestos, if other sites users or neighbours will be affected as well as the type of the building be it residential, commercial, industrial.
With a plethora of important things to put into consideration, it’s therefore essential to call in a qualified, competent and professional asbestos removal company to provide a reasonable quote for your unique project. Generally, in the UK, you can expect to pay the approximate cost of around £1000 or less for smaller areas. However, for larger areas the cost of removing such an asbestos will cost you considerably more. The cost can be within the range of £2500 and above in the UK.
These prices may seem high at first but its definitely worth it when you look at it’s possible effect on the health of you and your loved ones.
Is Asbestos Dangerous?
The short and simple answer to this question is yes, asbestos is absolutely dangerous. Exposure to asbestos fibres and dust can lead to cancer, lung disease and lots more. It’s known to be so dangerous that no level of exposure to asbestos is considered safe. It has been banned in the UK since 1999 but exposure is till rampant due to the exceptions to the ban and there’s a good chance that you’ll find it in several older buildings and homes. And despite the ban in most countries, asbestos related health issues are still on the rise across the globe. People that are mostly exposed to this risk are those who’re exposed on the job as well as those who simply like to take on projects around the house containing asbestos insulation by themselves.
Furthermore, there’s a need to observe safety precautions when working with asbestos. If not, you’ll be exposing both you and your family to long term health risks. Below are some of the things you need to know about the dangers of asbestos.
✓ Exposure to asbestos fibres has no safe level. So it’s best to avoid exposure at all costs.
✓ Breathing in asbestos dust can lead to lung cancer, asbestosis and mesothelioma.
✓ If disturbed, asbestos can release dangerous particles of dust containing asbestos fibres.
✓ Mesothelioma is a type of cancer which mostly affects the lung’s lining. It has no cure.
✓ If you smoke, then the risk of inhaling asbestos is greatly increased.
✓ The number of fibres inhaled as well as the length of time that you’ve been exposed to it increases the risk of contracting asbestos related diseases.
✓ The symptoms of asbestos dust related diseases do not commonly come out until its about 20 to 30 years after the first exposure.
