Asbestos removal is an important process in UK properties. For development reasons asbestos used to be very popular in the Uk generally for the insulating properties. But with connected health risks the Government enforced a ban on its use in 2006.

In spite of this there are still a huge number of houses with asbestos use in the ceilings and walls. And the effects of extented exposure can be extremely detrimental to your health, with two forms of lung cancer related with asbestos.

If you want to have asbestos removed from your own home, a Health and Safety Executive will carry out an assessment to find out if it is present. If this is the case it needs to be a priority to have removed, because if you become diagnosed with an asbestos related illness it will often be too far gone.

For your safety, ensure to make use of our service to do a comparison of prices from specialists near you. We'll match your requirements with up to 4 companies to help you be given a cost-free quotation for the work and take the matter from there.

Liphook

The large village of Liphook resides in the East Hampshire district of Hampshire in England. It is situated 4.1 miles west of Haslemere, bypassed by a dual carriageway, and it sits on the Hampshire and West Sussex border. The development of the village happened throughout the 17th and 18th centuries. At this time, the village served mostly as a coaching stopover in between London and Portsmouth, which is referred to as the village's coaching age. Many of the demands of the visitors were provided for by stalls, being replaced by the half-timbered houses that continue to exist around The Square. The replacement of coaches by wagons formed a particular development stimulus, and the Liphook's status as a coaching town was consolidated. The arrival of the London and South Western Railway in 1859 marked a new era in the town, restricting the long-distance coaching trade that was previously so firmly established in the town. Remarkably, nevertheless, unlike lots of other towns in Britain, the railway failed to have much of an impact on the size of the town's population, which is mainly assumed to be the result of the fact that many people were unable to purchase the fare. Liphook served as an essential base during both the First World War and the 2nd World War for the Canadian soldiers that were stationed in Southern England. Many of the roads in Liphook have since been given Canadian place names as a method of commemoration to the armed forces of that country serving in the region. Regional tourist attractions for the 15000 locals feature the Liphook Millennium Centre, featuring a cinema and equipment for community events, and the Liphook Carnival. For all of your house upgrades, make sure to make use of respected specialists in Liphook to make certain of quality.

    FAQs

    is asbestos dangerous?

    Is Asbestos Dangerous?

The short and simple answer to this question is yes, asbestos is absolutely dangerous. Exposure to asbestos fibres and dust can lead to cancer, lung disease and lots more. It’s known to be so dangerous that no level of exposure to asbestos is considered safe. It has been banned in the UK since 1999 but exposure is till rampant due to the exceptions to the ban and there’s a good chance that you’ll find it in several older buildings and homes. And despite the ban in most countries, asbestos related health issues are still on the rise across the globe. People that are mostly exposed to this risk are those who’re exposed on the job as well as those who simply like to take on projects around the house containing asbestos insulation by themselves.

Furthermore, there’s a need to observe safety precautions when working with asbestos. If not, you’ll be exposing both you and your family to long term health risks. Below are some of the things you need to know about the dangers of asbestos.

✓ Exposure to asbestos fibres has no safe level. So it’s best to avoid exposure at all costs.

✓ Breathing in asbestos dust can lead to lung cancer, asbestosis and mesothelioma.

✓ If disturbed, asbestos can release dangerous particles of dust containing asbestos fibres.

✓ Mesothelioma is a type of cancer which mostly affects the lung’s lining. It has no cure.

✓ If you smoke, then the risk of inhaling asbestos is greatly increased.

✓ The number of fibres inhaled as well as the length of time that you’ve been exposed to it increases the risk of contracting asbestos related diseases.

✓ The symptoms of asbestos dust related diseases do not commonly come out until its about 20 to 30 years after the first exposure.

    how to dispose of asbestos?

    How To Dispose Of Asbestos?

As a homeowner, you certainly wouldn’t like to the word “asbestos” and understandably so. Due to its extremely dangerous fibres, the material was banned in the UK since 1999 and any structure built with it will be heavily fined. However, if you’re presently doing some home improvement project or buying a property that was built before the year 2000, then a chance exists that the property could contain asbestos. So if you’re unlucky to discover asbestos in your property, getting rid of it can be quite simple if you know way around it. In this article, we’ll provide you with some tips on how to dispose of asbestos in your property. Let’s take a closer look!

    ✓ Careful Handling

If you happen to find asbestos in your property the best thing to do is to call in a reliable specialist who has the proper training and equipment to tackle the project. However, if you decide to handle it yourself, then it’s a must to do this with great care. For instance wearing safety gloves, dust mask, safety goggles and placement of asbestos into plastic bags would be a great idea.

✓ Take It To The Tip By Yourself

To save some money if you have access to a vehicle, then loading the bagged asbestos into your car and driving it to the nearest local tip would be a simple and cost effective alternative. However, you should check with your local authorities before attempting this.

    ✓ Use A Specialist

Hiring a professional asbestos removal contractor is simply the best way to dispose of asbestos. Their services may be a bit expensive, but they cover up for that in both speed and effectiveness.

✓ Use Your Council’s Asbestos Collection Service

Several councils off this services at a reduced cost. However, they are usually not as quick as a specialist contractor.

    what does asbestos cause?

    What Does Asbestos Cause?

The perfect example of a silent killer is asbestos. Wonder why? From the day of exposure, you might not see any symptoms of the asbestos containing material disease till years later and more often than not, these disease are not treatable. And as dangerous at it is, it’s most likely not something you’d think about on a daily basis unless you’ve been affected by this harmful material or probably someone you know has.

Found in rocks and soils, asbestos have been an important material for manufacturers across the globe for numerous reasons. Not only are they exceptional insulation materials in both electrical and buildings, but they’re also flexible and resistant to heat, chemicals as well as electricity. And due to this fact, they represent a very common material that’s used in automotive parts, construction materials as well as textiles.

Asbestos when disturbed and inhaled for a long period of time can significantly increase your risk for diseases such as lung cancer, mesothelioma as well as asbestosis. Smokers are more likely feel a greater impact as cigarette smoke irritates lung passages which makes it a lot more difficult for the lungs to remove asbestos fibres.

Mesothelioma. This is a form of cancer that affects the lining of the lungs as well as the lining surrounding the lower digestive tract. By the time diagnosed, it’s almost always fatal.

Lung Cancer. This asbestos related lung cancer is almost the same with that caused by smoking and other causes.

Abestosis. This is a serious scarring condition of the lung which usually occurs after exposure to asbestos after a lengthy period. It can lead to shortness of breath, and in some cases, can be fatal.

What should I do if asbestos is found?

There are all different types of Asbestos. Some kinds of asbestos, if they are in good condition, may be left as they are or covered up. If there is any danger of the asbestos being damaged and particles entering the air, it should be removed. Once a survey has been completed you will be advised on what course of action to take.
