Looe is a tiny coastal community, angling port and civil parish in south-east Cornwall, England, with a population of 5,280 at the 2011 census. Looe is 20 miles (32 km) west of Plymouth and 7 miles (11 km) south of Liskeard, divided in two by the River Looe, East Looe and also West Looe being attached by a bridge. Looe developed as 2 separate communities each with MPs and its own mayor. The town centres around a tiny harbour as well as along the steep-sided valley of the River Looe which moves between East and also West Looe to the sea next to a sandy beach. Offshore to the west, opposite the stonier Hannafore Beach, exists Looe Island. Looe remains a fishing community, and also retained a number of fish suppliers operating from the East Looe quayside till the introduction of EU policies. With its fleet of small angling watercrafts returning their catches to port daily, Looe has a track record for procuring excellent fresh fish. The community is also a centre for shark fishing, and also is residence to the Shark Angling Club of Great Britain. However, Looe's primary organisation today is tourist, with much of the town given over to hotels, bed and breakfast and vacation homes, along with a large number of clubs, restaurants and also beach tools, ice cream as well as Cornish pasty suppliers. Inland from Looe lie several outdoor camping and campers websites, along with the well-known Woolly Monkey Sanctuary. Other neighborhood destinations consist of the coastlines, sailing, fishing and also diving, and also amazing seaside walks (especially by means of Talland to Polperro). South East Cornwall flaunts numerous stately homes, including Antony House, Cotehele, Mount Edgcumbe and also Lanhydrock House, as well as the Eden Project near St Austell which travelers can access by road.
