Fencing is extremely important for all houses whether it is the front or back garden. From maintenance work to a complete installation of new fencing, using a reliable company is highly encouraged to get the very best price available.

Fencing work as a border to our properties and with an installation you'll add more protection to your property and stop easy access to your back garden. Back garden fences are traditionally around 6 feet high, which straight away makes it more difficult for intruders to gain access.

Decorative fencing or wooden picket fencing tend to be best suited for the front garden, where security isn't as vital. Instead, you're more likely to select a front garden fence particularly for decoration in order to add something different.

Bradford-on-avon

Bradford on Avon is a town and civil parish in west Wiltshire, England, with a population of around 9,500 at the 2011 Census. The town lies partly on the Avon Valley, and partially around the hill that marks the Vale's western edge, 8 miles southeast of Bath, in the hilly countryside in between the Mendip Hills, Salisbury Plain and the Cotswold Hills. The local area around Bath offers the Jurassic limestone (Bath Stone) out of which the town's older buildings are built. The River Avon (Bristol Avon) runs through the town. The town directly borders Trowbridge to the south east. The town includes the suburbs of Bearfield and Woolley; the parish includes the hamlets of Widbrook and Woolley Green. The town's canal, traditional buildings, shops, pubs and restaurants make it popular with visitors. The history of the town can be traced back to Roman times. It boasts numerous buildings dating from the 17th century, when the town grew significantly because of the busy English woollen textile sector. A distinctive feature of Bradford on Avon is the big Grade II* listed tithe barn, called the Saxon Tithe Barn, which is 180 ft by 30 ft and was constructed in the fourteenth century and is now part of Barton Farm Country Park. The barn would have been used for collecting taxes in the form of goods to finance the church. There are lots of unique buildings in and around the town centre. Many of the old textile factories have been renovated into contemporary flats and apartments, thought some of the buildings are still made use of nowadays for their historic purpose. For all your home upgrades, be certain that you select trusted specialists in Bradford on Avon to ensure you get the top quality service.

    FAQs

Fence ownership: who owns that garden fence?

When it comes to fence ownership and responsibility, this is often a subject of dispute between neighbours and understandably so. Owning a fence comes with a number of responsibilities such as arranging and paying for the maintenance and more. Therefore, if you’re not yet sure who owns the garden fence, then you’d probably want to have that sorted to make sure your property stays protected at all times. In this post, we’re going to give you an insight into some of the rules guiding fence ownership in order to help you make informed decisions. Let’s take a look!

There’s no rule of thumb on whether you own the fence on the right hand or the left hand side of your property. Therefore, if you’ve heard any “rules that states otherwise, you can fling that out the window because not everyone will own the left hand side to their fence. The first way to determine who owns the garden fence or which side of the fence you’re responsible for is simply by looking. Although this is not guaranteed or a definite way to determine ownership, it can go a long way to give you a good idea. As you would have expected, fences are most likely built on the land that belongs to the boundary’s owner with the further edge of the fence making the actual boundary. As a result, you can determine a fence ownership simply by identifying where the frames are.

Also, you can determine fence ownership using the title deeds for an official and accurate answer. A copy should be given alongside your paperwork which is received when purchasing your house.

What types of garden fencing are available?

There are quite a few different types of garden fencing that are readily available, so you’ll have plenty to choose from. If you’ve got a strict budget, waney edge panel fencing is a good option. It’s made up of horizontal wood strips and is generally the cheapest type of fencing. Another good option is closed feather-edge panels. These are a really strong type of fence, made up of concrete posts and panels of vertical strips of wood. You can also get more decorative types of fencing with combinations of vertical and horizontal wood strips.

What is the cheapest fence to install?

The cheapest fence to install is, generally, a pressure-treated pine wooden fence at around £20 per linear foot. This includes the materials and labour costs. Wire fencing is technically cheaper at around £5 per foot, but it’s not a great material to use in homes as it looks unsightly and doesn’t provide any privacy.

How close can I build to my neighbour’s fence?

As a home or property owner, you’re generally allowed to build next to your neighbour’s fence as long as it’s on your own side of the property. With that in mind, there are certain laws that regulate how close a fence can be built to buildings on the same lot or neighbouring lots. In addition, there are also local bylaws that provide limitations on the placements as well as height of fences so as to address safety hazards. In this post, we’re going to give you a good insight into how close you can build to your neighbour. Let’s take a look!

In general, if the fence is in your boundary then you’re allowed to build a 2-metre high brick or wooden fence or wall. However, this may differ depending on your location in the UK. As a result, you may want to reach out to your municipality’s building department in order to determine what these rules and limitations are in your area. In the events whereby there are no such restrictions but you’re still concerned, you can try informing your neighbour what your concerns are. However, if they’re not receptive there are some steps you can take to ensure your plans go as smoothly as possible. These steps include the following:

    • Ensure to leave sufficient space for both the posts and footings
    • Stagger your fence posts in order to make sure you’re not digging your neighbour’s
    • Consider using concrete posts as they’re much stronger and will last a lot longer
    • Use kickers or plinths for raised gardens and flower beds
    • Make use of concrete plinths as they won’t rot over time like a wooden fence.
