Appleby-in-Westmorland is a market town as well as civil parish in the Eden area, in the administrative area of Cumbria, in North West England. The church had a population of 3,048 in 2011. It depends on a loophole of the River Eden in the historical area of Westmorland, of which it was the county town. Its name was simply Appleby till the city government changes of 1974. When a follower church was developed from the former borough, the council changed its name to tape that of the historical area.
