Fleetwood is a town inside the Wyre region of Lancashire, England, lying on the northwest corner of the Fylde. It enjoyed a populace of 26,840 people at the 2001 Census. It forms an area of the Greater Blackpool conurbation. The town was the first planned community of the period. For a lot of of the twentieth century, Fleetwood was a popular deep-sea fishing port, although, since the 1970s, the fishing industry has reduced precipitously and the town has been through economic difficulties.
