Crickhowell is a village and also area in southeastern Powys, Wales, near Abergavenny, and also was in the historic area of Brecknockshire. The name Crickhowell is drawn from that of the nearby Iron Age hill ft of Crug Hywel above the town, the Welsh language name being anglicised by map-makers as well as local English-speaking individuals.
