Cardigan is a town and neighborhood in the region of Ceredigion in Wales. The town pushes a tidal reach of the River Teifi at the point where Ceredigion, formerly Cardiganshire, satisfies Pembrokeshire. Cardigan was the county town of the historic region and is the second-largest town in Ceredigion. The biggest community, Aberystwyth, is just one of both management centres; the other being Aberaeron. The settlement at Cardigan was created around the Norman castle integrated in the late 11th or very early 12th century. The castle was the place of the initial National Eisteddfod in 1176. The town became an essential port in the 18th century, however declined by the early 20th century owing to its superficial harbour. The castle went through repair in 2014. The population in 2001 was 4,203, reducing slightly to 4,184 at the 2011 census. Modern Cardigan is a small as well as busy community, having the majority of the centers for retail, education, health, worship as well as sporting activity.
