Brampton (population 4,627) is a little market community, civil church and electoral ward within the City of Carlisle area of Cumbria, England, about 9 miles (14 kilometres) east of Carlisle as well as 2 miles (3.2 km) south of Hadrian's Wall. Historically part of Cumberland, it is positioned off the A69 road which bypasses it. Brampton train station, on the Newcastle and Carlisle Train, is about a mile outside the community, near the district of Milton. St Martin's Church is famous as the only church created by the Pre-Raphaelite architect Philip Webb, and has among the most elegant collections of discolored glass home windows designed by Sir Edward Burne-Jones, as well as carried out in the William Morris workshop.
