Abbots Langley is a sizeable village and civil parish in the English county of Hertfordshire. It is an old settlement and is named Langelai in the Domesday Book of 1086. This village has a long background of productive human habitation. The initial signs of human inhabitation in the location were discovered by celebrated archaeologist Sir John Evans. The village is located on a saucer of clay covered by a coating of gravel, and therefore water supply has never been a problem; documents demonstrate that in the past water could be drawn from a well only 20 feet deep.
